On the edge of the tiny Devon village of Combpyne is beautiful, thatched, Grade II listed Marlborough Cottage. Expertly finished throughout, you will enter the property through the thatched porch taking a step down to the stylish and contemporary kitchen is the real hub-of-the-house, warmed by a cosy Aga this is a great spot to sit and recount your days adventures. In the sitting room with beams you'll find a gorgeous inglenook fireplace with a wood burning stove and a pretty window seat. Also down 2 steps on the ground floor is a bedroom/occasional living room with a king size double bed and French windows to the courtyard. Up the steep stairs with a handrail and low head height you will enter the first floor. On the first floor are two further double bedrooms, one with low beams, and one with an additional single bed. Behind the cottage, is ¾ acre of garden with connecting spaces including a dining terrace ideal for watching the sunset with a glass of something delicious and paths through the rose beds up to a lawn, wooded garden, wildflower meadow and summerhouse. There's also an external games shed with toys for young children and ¾ sized table tennis. Close to Combpyne, is the pretty fishing village of Beer. Here you can sit by the harbour and watch waves break on the pebbly beach or browse the interesting shops and galleries. There are lots of fascinating courses run locally at Hugh fearnley Whittingstall's famous River Cottage or fabulousTrill Farm. There's a sandy beach at iconic Lyme Regis, or for a day's sightseeing, head to the historic city of Exeter with its cathedral, quay and family friendly attractions. In a secluded yet accessible location, Marlborough Cottage is brilliant for couples or families.
Beer is a small picturesque fishing village on the south Devon coast near Seaton. The shingle beach is very sheltered, backed by limestone cliffs and was once fertile smuggling territory, plus contraband was hidden in nearby caves, which are now a popular tourist attraction
