Perfectly poised at the gateway to Exmoor National Park, a stone’s throw from a bustling market town and the long sandy stretches North Devon is famous for, this bolthole is perfect for a rural, cosmopolitan or coastal retreat.

After a day exploring your surroundings, no better welcome is the Scandinavian aesthetic of this studio-style pod, featuring an open plan living/dining/kitchen/sleeping area beneath a characterful wooden-clad arched roof. Snuggle into the comfy corner sofa (can pull out as a king-size sofa bed upon request) and catch the latest blockbuster on the Smart TV. Grab all the local goodies you’ve collected and whip up a hearty meal in the well-equipped kitchen, and enjoy dining romantically around the contemporary table tucked away beside the kitchen. As day turns to night, retreat to the endlessly cosy king-size bed at the rear featuring wonderful views over the surrounding farmland. Outside, enjoy dining alfresco on the decking or take a stroll around the owner’s farm, home to a friendly array of miniature horses, chickens, goats and pigs. The pod also benefits from a storage shed with an additional fridge/freezer if required.

Situated on 14 acres of private farmland, the pod sits at the mouth of Exmoor National Park, a wonderland full of heather-clad moors, steep-sided valleys and challenging hilltops for you to conquer on foot or two wheels. Join up with the Tarka Trail, following the route of the disused railway line along the estuary, passing through the historic market town of Barnstaple (6.5 miles), which features a wide range of high street shops interspersed with some quaint independent cafes and restaurants. A little further afield you’ll arrive at the infamous rugged North Devon coastline; the sandy stretches of Saunton (16.5 miles) and Westward Ho! (19.5 miles) offer perfect surfing conditions and miles of golden sand.
