About this property

Baronet's Quarters is a spacious, two-bedroom wing of an elegant Georgian property, boasting wonderful vistas over the pretty town of Lynton. With a view that CS Lewis once claimed was “beyond everything I have seen" and nestled on the Exmoor coast, this welcoming retreat is ideal for friends and small families alike, looking for a relaxing break and coastal rural outings. Cross the threshold into your new home-from-home, to be impressed by the lovely living space, boasting everything you need to enjoy a stress-free stay and with a lovely French doorway framing the breath-taking sea views. The open-plan sitting area has plush furniture and boasts a stunning feature stone wall, while the dining area is perfect for everyone to gather and socialise over a home-cooked evening meal. Moving through the property, discover the sleek, well-equipped kitchen, with a range of impressive appliances, including a dishwasher and washing machine so washing up can become a thing of the past! If you prefer to spend your evenings alfresco, venture out to the private patio terrace area where you can marvel at the stunning views whilst sipping a refreshing glass of wine. When sleep calls, a charming double bedroom with an en-suite shower room completes the ground floor, while the first floor is home to a master double bedroom, with en-suite bathroom where you can wind down before another day of adventures. While you're in the area, take a trip towards the coast, which offers an abundance of watersports, and the lovely Blacklands Beach, ideal for family day trips. Also nearby is the South West Coast Path and the Tarka Trail, both running through the town and are excellent for keen walkers and cyclists. With so much to explore, don't forget to venture into the neighbouring towns and villages for a wealth of attractions to see. With just a short walk to the Funicular railway between Lynton and Lynmouth and within accessible reach of two small supermarkets, pubs, cafes and restaurants, you'll be spoilt for choice. After a day spent in the open Devonshire country air, head back to your lovely base at Baronet's Quarters.

Lynton and its twin Lynmouth are nestled within Exmoor National Park on the North Devon coast. Lynton and Lynmouth enjoy one of the prettiest and most unspoilt coastal locations in England, offering breathtaking scenery and some of the best opportunities to admire the sheer rugged beauty of Exmoor’s coast and countryside. Great heritage, cosy fireside pubs, tasty local food and 'green’ credentials make North Devon an inspiring place to stay. There is a wealth of wildlife including magnificent red deer, the rare Exmoor pony, wild birds and rare butterflies. There are plenty of outdoor pursuits including horse riding, golf, walking, surfing and fly fishing on the beautiful Lyn river. Exmoor National Park is home to some of the darkest skies in the country so it's a great place to gaze at the stars. Lynton has a fabulous range of shops, pubs and cafes where you can wander between the picturesque cottages and meet the friendly locals. There are a number of attractions for the family including Exmoor Zoo, Lynmouth’s water-powered cliff railway, and the Owl and Hawk Centre. There was only 2 of us staying so did not use the ground floor bedroom but would have thought it would be better as a single room, but the size of the room is made clear in the description. Could have done with a bread bin and no welcome pack! The views are stunning and even better than the photographs on the website. Will definitely be back.

All the planters contained dead unwatered plants , the swing seat was unmaintained & very dirty , the patio table & chairs covered with flaking paint . The securing hook for one of the front doors was missing , a problem for easy safe access when windy . Indoors , the cleaning team had done their usual excellent job , but the main duvet really does need replacing . We know & accept that phone signals are a problem in this location , but in spite of following all instructions , we simply could not get a connection to the internet , which is so important these days ( like it or not ) for information , booking etc . The housekeeper did her very best to help us , for which we are grateful , but unsuccessfully . We had to resort to asking the neighbouring apartment if we could use their internet connection . If a guest had to stay in internet touch for important family or business reasons , they would probably be much more vocal than us ! This is a lovely location , we have had many happy times here , such a shame there is now an air of neglect , particularly outside .

Only negative was the maintenance outside. The terrace and the seated area were over grown, weedy and in need of a sweep. All flower tubs and vases were full of dead plants. It would have taken a very short time to improve and it did affect how nice it was to use the outside. Although the views were lovely.
