The Old Library in Dartmouth is a well-regarded property with a central location and unique, quirky design. Guests appreciate its spaciousness, high-quality fittings, and the convenience of being close to shops and restaurants. While some minor issues with maintenance and comfort are noted, the overall experience is positive, with many guests expressing a desire to return.
The property generally receives high marks for cleanliness, though there are isolated comments about stained mattress protectors and dust. These seem to be exceptions rather than the rule.
The location is consistently praised for being central and convenient, ideal for exploring Dartmouth and its amenities.
Comfort receives a mixed response; while the beds and sofas are mentioned as areas for improvement, the overall ambience and design are appreciated.
Facilities are generally good, but several reviews mention issues with hot water, a broken TV, and other maintenance concerns that affect the score.

The Old Library is a quirky and exquisitely presented holiday home, designed and furnished to the very highest standards throughout. The two-storey accommodation has been extensively remodeled in conjunction with Cheltenham-based Focus Interior Design to offer a luxurious retreat for two couples or a young family in a central location.
The property is set at the end of Newcomen Road and within a very short, mostly level, walk of the historic naval town of Dartmouth. There are a number of award-winning restaurants, delightful boutiques, art galleries, cosy cafés and beautiful gardens within easy reach, as well as a range of lovely boat trips up and down the delightful River Dart from the nearby harbour front.
Beautifully furnished throughout, on the ground floor are two boutique double bedrooms, both imaginatively and luxuriously decorated. The master bedroom has a King-size bed, Juliet balcony, and en suite bathroom, whilst the similarly furnished second bedroom is not en suite but has an adjacent shower room.
Stairs spiral up to the open plan living accommodation, ‘The Captain’s Galley’ on the first floor. This spacious and elegant area has a nautical theme and offers a wonderful environment for relaxing or entertaining, with an elegant kitchen, delightful dining area and comfortably furnished sitting room.
An annual parking pass for one car is provided for the Mayors Avenue public car park 5-7 minutes walk away (subject to available spaces).
This fabulous property offers an exquisite holiday home in a superb Dartmouth location.
Dartmouth lies on the banks of the beautiful River Dart in the popular and picturesque South Hams area of South Devon. Located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the stunning Start Bay coastline, Dartmouth is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Devon. It offers a stunning waterfront, ancient narrow streets lined with boutique shops, restaurants and art galleries plus many popular events such as the annual Dart Music Festival, Dartmouth Food Festival and the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta. This historic town boasts interesting landmarks, such as Dartmouth Castle, the Britannia Royal Naval College, and the National Trust’s Greenway House just a short ferry ride away. There are many interesting cycling and walking routes around Dartmouth, including the South West Coast Path, the Dart Valley Trail and plenty of quiet country lanes. A trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway through the rolling countryside to Paignton is a must, and so is a boat or ferry trip across to Kingswear, on to Brixham, or down the river to the village of Dittisham. For those seeking sandy beaches, there is a wide choice in the South Hams area such as Blackpool Sands and Slapton Sands, both extremely popular beaches just a stone's throw from Dartmouth.
