18 Southtown is a ground floor apartment located in Dartmouth, Devon, a charming town that dates back hundreds of years. This self-contained apartment is the ground floor of a Georgian property and touches of history can be found throughout. Step into the sitting room, with its charming traditional furniture and lovely sofas, and enjoy stunning views of the river and the countryside and hills beyond from the large window. Relax and unwind in front of the flat screen TV and the cosy log-effect fire. The well-equipped open-plan kitchen/ diner has seating for four people and plenty of work-top space for preparing home-cooked meals. Being on the ground floor, it is an ideal holiday home for all guests. There are two bedrooms: a double overlooking the river with shower and WC ensuite, and a twin. There is a family bathroom with bath and basin, and a separate cloakroom with WC and basin. The rooms are furnished with high quality wooden period furniture, making this a lovely apartment. While you stay at 18 Southtown, why not visit Dartmouth Castle, a 14th century fortress overlooking the entrance to the Dart estuary. It has a 15th century gun tower, the first purpose-built coastal artillery fort in Briton. It is a stunning piece of architecture which has stood guard over the harbour protecting the town from invaders for over 600 years. A large iron chain used to stretch across the entrance to the harbour from here to Gommerock Castle on the Kingswear side to prevent any invaders sailing up the river. In 1620 the Pilgrim Fathers set sail from nearby Bayards Cove. Dartmouth also played a part in the civil war and remains of fortifications from this period can still be seen at Gallants Bower above the castle.

All facilities, warm, VERY clean and lovely views. This was our third stay at 18 Southtown and will hopefully not be our last.
