Alpha Cottage in Dittisham, Devon, is a sympathetically restored property that offers a cosy and tranquil retreat. Guests have enjoyed its homely feel, the beautiful surroundings, and the local amenities including pubs and ferry trips. The cottage is dog-friendly and has been praised for its well-equipped kitchen and wood burner. While some guests have noted areas for improvement, the overall experience has been positive, with many creating cherished memories and expressing a desire to return.
Most guests found the cottage to be clean and well-kept, though there were isolated comments about the washing up bowl, dishcloths, and mats needing attention. The majority did not raise cleanliness as an issue, suggesting a generally satisfactory standard.
The location is frequently described as wonderful, with easy access to local attractions, pubs, and ferry services. The peaceful and idyllic setting close to rivers and beaches has been a highlight for many guests.
Guests have found the cottage warm, cosy, and comfortable overall, with a particularly comfortable main bed. However, some guests mentioned noisy floorboards and an uncomfortable mattress in one of the rooms, slightly lowering the score.
The cottage is well-equipped and guests have appreciated the kitchen and wood burner. However, there are reports of maintenance issues such as a broken front door lock, a challenging staircase, and slow-draining shower, indicating room for improvement.
The provision of goodies and a mention of prosecco suggest a level of thoughtfulness in welcoming guests. However, as these gifts are not guaranteed for every stay, they are a delightful bonus rather than a standard offering.
Located in the lovely village of Dittisham and just upstream from the popular South Devon town of Dartmouth, sits this stunning cottage which has been lovingly restored to provide a fantastic base for four guests. With beautiful, traditional features such as beams and exposed stone walls as well as a warming wood burner, this is an ideal home to return to at the end of a busy day.
Stepping inside this lovely cottage, you’ll find yourself in a lounge that’s brimming with character from the exposed timber and brickwork, through to the welcoming wood burner and surrounding comfortable seating where you can curl up at the end of the day. Next to this is the bright kitchen/diner with its high ceiling and bright pops of colour making this a great space to gather for a meal. From the lounge, a steep cottage-style staircase takes you to the two pretty bedrooms. The king-size room has the same gorgeous, exposed brick as well as wood burner-effect fire and a stylish en-suite shower room, whilst the second bedroom is a cute twin and there’s also a further separate shower room. Outside, there is a gravelled seating area with outdoor furniture and a further elevated seating area.
