Both beaches are backed by dramatic red sandstone cliffs, and the sheltered cove provides wonderful bathing opportunities in the sparkling turquoise water. The tidal Burgh Island is teeming with wildlife and is a fantastic place to blow away the cobwebs and appreciate the sheer beauty of the South Devon coastline. If you pick just one walk, make it along the South West Coast Path to Salcombe. Thought by many to be the most beautiful stretch of the 630-mile trail, you’ll be absolutely mesmerised by the views.
