Hope Cove, a little settlement on Devon's south coast, is nestled in the sheltering curve of Bigbury Bay. Sandcastle building and small-crustacean fishing can be done on the two beaches, which include soft sand and rock pools. Crabs and lobsters are still harvested in the town, which was previously a popular smuggling destination. For divers, the seashore is a hot site because of all the shipwrecks that lie beneath it.
