In the picturesque South Hams region of south Devon, the bustling small town of Kingsbridge is located at the head of a saltwater estuary. River trips are offered to Salcombe in the summer to view the plethora of species that calls this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (aonb), which is also a part of the South Devon Heritage Coast, home. Walking down Kingsbridge Quay, exploring the winding lanes off Fore Street, or going to the Shambles, an Elizabethan market arcade, are all options for tourists. There are several scenic ports in the South Hams region, including Dartmouth and Salcombe, as well as beautiful Blackpool Sands in Stoke Fleming and the sandy beaches at Thurlestone, Bigbury and Bantham. The South Hams region is home to several charming small towns with interesting pubs, shops selling fresh local produce, and rows of pretty cottages.
