Guests are charmed by the stunning views and the comfort of 4 Lyndhurst, appreciating its cleanliness and well-equipped nature. The property's location offers a picturesque setting, though the steep hill and stairs are noted. While some minor maintenance issues are mentioned, the overall experience is one of a pleasant and memorable stay in Salcombe.
The property is generally praised for its cleanliness, with several reviews highlighting its spotless condition. However, a few mentions of hair on the carpet suggest room for improvement.
The location is celebrated for its amazing views and quiet setting, but the steep hill to the town centre and the challenging parking situation slightly detract from the overall satisfaction.
Guests find the property comfortable, with special mentions of the cosy atmosphere, quality furnishings, and comfortable beds. The presence of a balcony adds to the comfort, despite some comments about limited headroom and the need for extra blankets.
The property is well-equipped and bright, but feedback about maintenance issues like a faulty kitchen window, inadequate extractor fan, and the need for some upgrades in fittings indicate that there is room for improvement in this area.
There are no specific mentions of gifts or special touches that would indicate the level of thoughtfulness. Therefore, it is not possible to provide a score in this category.
4 Lyndhurst, located on Bonaventure Road above Salcombe in a quieter part of the town, is within a ten-minute downhill walk of the waterfront, boutiques and restaurants which have gone on to make the area so renowned.
A set of steps lead up to the apartment and onto the open planned lounge / kitchen / dining room where doors open to a balcony offering superb views over the estuary. A comfortable L-shaped sofa seats five, a smart TV is in the lounge for the guests’ use. The well-equipped Shaker style kitchen has granite worktops, a double oven, ceramic hob, dishwasher, washing machine/dryer, fridge-freezer and microwave whilst the circular oak dining table seats four.
There are two en suite bedrooms, both on the upper level of this duplex apartment. The master has a king size bed, clothes storage, TV and a gable end window to take in the view and en-suite bathroom. The second bedroom is a twin with views stretching from East Portlemouth to Snapes Point. The en-suite shower room features a power shower, w.c and hand basin. A TV and DVD are also provided in the second bedroom.
Guests can use the communal garden and to the rear of the property to bask in the summer sunshine. Off-road parking for one car is provided whilst further parking is usually available nearby.
Salcombe is a popular destination for watersports enthusiasts, walkers and families looking for a holiday by the sea. There are several pretty beaches within a short distance, including North Sands and South Sands, plus the coves East Portlemouth on the opposite side of the estuary, just a short passenger ferry ride away. Also on your doorstep is the National Trust property Overbeck’s where you can wander through the subtropical gardens. Why not have a more adventurous day and try out the watersports available on the estuary including surfing, coasteering, kayaking or a more leisurely boat trip? Whilst staying in Salcombe, take advantage of the locally sourced seafood which is served in many of the restaurants, pubs, cafés and delicatessens. Great location for seeing the area. Plenty to do without using the car.

Mostly the flat was quiet but there were a few days where we could hear what other apartments were doing, even into the early hours on 1 or 2 nights. Itâs probably fine for most people but as a light-ish sleeper and with a young family it made hard for us to sleep. Both bathroom doors didnât close completely - they stick at the top of the door frame and would be nice if that was rectified. The most frustrating part of our stay was that someone in the apartment below was smoking cannabis (in the apartment and on the balcony below) which worked itâs way into the apartment and meant we couldnât have windows or the balcony doors open whilst the occupant was smoking and for a period after too - this was really unpleasant and despite reporting it to coast and country and the owners it didnât stop. However, having a car parking space in Salcombe is a massive bonus and the estuary views were fantastic!
