Guests are captivated by the stunning views and peaceful atmosphere of the spacious and well-equipped 4 Ringrone. The property's charm is enhanced by its proximity to lovely walks and the National Trust's Overbecks. While some guests mentioned a musty smell and the challenging narrow access roads, the overall experience is one of comfort and relaxation in a beautiful setting.
The majority of guests found the property to be clean and comfortable. However, a few noted issues with mustiness and mildew, particularly in the bathrooms, which suggests room for improvement in deep cleaning and addressing dampness.
The location is highly praised for its breathtaking views and tranquility. The proximity to coastal walks and Salcombe is a plus, though some guests found the narrow and steep access roads challenging. The property's seclusion is a double-edged sword, offering both exclusivity and accessibility concerns.
Guests consistently describe the property as spacious, warm, and comfortable, with well-appointed furnishings and a homely feel. The ample outdoor space and the quality of the beds and soft furnishings contribute to a relaxing stay.
The property is well-equipped, particularly the kitchen, and offers good parking facilities. Some guests missed a hairdryer and noted areas in need of attention, suggesting that while the facilities are generally excellent, there is scope for ongoing maintenance.
While some guests appreciated the presence of books, games, and outdoor furniture, there is insufficient information regarding welcome gifts or additional thoughtful touches to accurately assess this category.
Ringrone is a historic property set in mature grounds in an elevated position above the mouth of the Salcombe estuary. Popular South Sands beach, well known for water sports, and the famous passenger ferry that runs to Salcombe town through the main season is just a 5-7 minute downhill walk away, whilst the beautiful Overbeck’s National Trust gardens are on its doorstep.
4 Ringrone has a spacious sitting room which is split into two areas with the first having a sofa, window seating and is the perfect spot of a morning to take in the views across the Salcombe estuary towards Prawle Point as the sunrises. The main area is furnished with a large sofa, window seat and TV with DVD player. This room has high ceilings and a feature fireplace as well as a range of books and games. The modern kitchen has an induction hob, oven/grill, larder fridge, freezer, microwave and dishwasher. The dining area has an oak table seating six whilst doors lead out to the side terrace. An adjacent utility room houses a washing machine, dryer and sink.
The first bedroom has a Super King-size bed which can be split into twin beds on request at the time of booking, and French doors which lead out onto the terrace, whilst the second is a twin with two pine-framed single beds and plenty of storage. A Z-bed is available on request.
There are two bathrooms, the first has a bath, shower (over), w.c, hand basin and shaver point whilst the second is a small shower room with shower cubicle, w.c and hand basin. Outside is a large terraced area with a table, chairs and barbeque. There is allocated parking for two cars. As a baby friendly property, a travel cot and high chair are available upon request.
Salcombe is a popular destination for watersports enthusiasts, walkers and families looking for a holiday by the sea. There are several pretty beaches within a short distance, including North Sands and South Sands, plus the coves East Portlemouth on the opposite side of the estuary, just a short passenger ferry ride away. Also on your doorstep is the National Trust property Overbeck’s where you can wander through the subtropical gardens. Why not have a more adventurous day and try out the watersports available on the estuary including surfing, coasteering, kayaking or a more leisurely boat trip? Whilst staying in Salcombe, take advantage of the locally sourced seafood which is served in many of the restaurants, pubs, cafés and delicatessens. The southern tip of Devon provides some spectacular scenery and picturesque vistas with a number of sandy beaches, lovely villages with thatched cottages and some fantastic opportunities for walking on the South West Coast path.

It is a large and comfortable holiday home, with really superb views. The kitchen is large and very well-equipped. Everywhere was very clean. Previous reviews mentioned carpet moths, but there was no evidence of any, and the new carpets were quite luxurious. Plenty of outdoor places to sit. Located just around the corner from the beautiful National Trust Overbecks, and easy to get to North and South Sands, and Salcombe. The roads leading to it are winding and narrow, but it wasn't a problem for us. We would definitely recommend Ringrone.

We purchased some treatment and managed to get rid of the majority. There were many areas and rooms that had only been top cleaned as dust and cobwebs in many corners and drawers shelves etc. Lovely place just needs more commitment to detail in the cleaning process.

Lots of lovely walks from the apartment. Very well equipped kitchen, spacious rooms, good heating! Really enjoyed our stay and can see why people return to Ringrone.
