A quaint riverbank community called Horrabridge can be found in Devon's stunning Dartmoor National Park. The River Walkham, renowned for its salmon fishing, roars beneath the village bridge, which is thought to be the oldest in West Devon. Horrabridge is a great starting point for a vacation in Devon since it combines old-world charm with contemporary amenities, such as a decent bar by the river and a variety of local businesses. There are several wonderful hikes that leave from the village that ascend to Dartmoor and offer breath-taking views of the hills and fields where sheep and Dartmoor pony’s leisurely graze. Due in large part to its beautiful Victorian architecture and gorgeous setting on the banks of the River Tavy, the market town of Tavistock, the largest settlement in Dartmoor's western moor, is an incredibly lovely place. Tavistock has no shortage of boutiques and eateries, and the town is also home to the specially constructed Pannier Market, which is a must-see for all tourists.

Every room downstairs and up, were terribly smelly and we could not wait to leave the property each day. We eventually left the property 2 days earlier than paid for, as we could not bear to stay any longer. We wanted to alleviate the smells but could not open most of the windows. The smell of the mattress on the master bed was also so bad we had to sleep on top of the duvet. It was classed as 5 star accommodation, it should be altered to 1 star, if that. We were told that we only had hot water for 2 hours in the morning and again in the evening. It was so cold in the property that we had to ask for the heating to be put on, of which we were given 1 hour's heating in the morning and the same again in the evening. The pictures give the impression that it is self contained and that you enter through the middle door of the property. In fact, you are relegated to a side door where the path is really muddy. You can hear the owners and their dogs on the other side of doors that connect to the visitor wing, so it does not feel private at all.

The garden is huge and beautiful and our dogs enjoyed it as much as we did. The owners are really helpful and refreshingly relaxed about everything and we felt quite at home. Staying in a historic property was a wonderful experience.

The grounds are fantastic and well worth exploring, though I donât think we got round them all. The owner could not be more helpful and friendly, if you needed anything you only had to ask and we thank them for making our stay so enjoyable. This property is ideal for exploring Dartmoor and South Devon. We would definitely consider hiring this property again in the future.
