Chilvery Farm Cottage is a well-loved and equipped property, praised for its beautiful location, character, and views. Guests enjoyed the homely feel, the wildlife, and the walks, particularly to the idyllic lake. The conservatory and woodburner are highlights, contributing to a cosy and enjoyable stay. Some guests mentioned issues with cleanliness and comfort of beds, but overall, the cottage is recommended for a peaceful and relaxing holiday.
While many guests found the cottage to be clean and tidy, there were several mentions of cobwebs and dust in various rooms, and one report of mouse droppings. These issues seem to be sporadic rather than systemic, suggesting a generally good but occasionally inconsistent standard of cleanliness.
The cottage's location is highly praised for its tranquillity, privacy, and proximity to beautiful walks and Dartmoor. The views and wildlife are frequently mentioned as highlights. Some guests noted the presence of a road and occasional noise from vehicles, but this did not significantly detract from the overall positive reception of the location.
Guests generally found the cottage to be comfortable, with a warm and snug atmosphere, especially during the winter. The conservatory and views added to the comfort level. However, there were some comments about the beds not being the most comfortable, which slightly affected the overall comfort score.
The cottage is well-equipped with a good quality kitchen, heating, and a woodburner. The conservatory and access to a lake walk are appreciated. Some guests encountered minor issues such as a non-working Chromecast and a lack of bin liners, but these did not greatly impact the overall experience.
There are mentions of welcome gifts such as cake and flowers, which guests found to be a lovely touch. However, as gifts are not consistently referenced across the reviews, it cannot be guaranteed that such thoughtfulness is a standard practice for every stay.
