Just outside the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty was a peaceful, rural community. A popular pub founded in 1750, a parish church going back to before the 15th century, and a Spar store can all be found in the small, historic village of Hazelbury Bryan. There is a children's play area and a field with cricket and football equipment in the community as well. With the Dorset and Cranborne Chase Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty nearby, which provide excellent chances for hikers and bikers with beautiful views to go with it, Hazelbury Bryan proved to be a perfect location for exploring the outdoors. The community has a fair assortment of stores and restaurants despite being somewhat remote; Sherborne, the closest well-stocked town, is 10 miles distant. Visit Bournemouth, a charming town with lots to see and do, around 25 miles south of here if you feel like a vacation to the shore.

We arrived on a very damp chilly day to a very cold house. No information booklet about the house just a sign on the wall no dogs upstairs. We would not have booked it had we known as we have a nervous rescue who needs to be near someone, her bed is in my bedroom. The main oven does not work, first issue, frying pan handle loose and dangerous. Main bedroom had more than two dozen dead flies on the floor and window seat, disgusting. Opened bedroom velux windows on first morning to have a swarm of flies in both bedrooms. had to buy fly spray to get rid of them. Owner knocked after two days and knew about oven! Place has potential with a bit of TLC.

Having said which we had a lovely holiday. A good location which was quiet and peaceful with extremely friendly hosts. Great views from the cottage and a pity that the weather didn't allow us to enjoy them more.
