Swanage, a family-friendly seaside resort on the Isle of Purbeck at the eastern end of Dorset's Jurassic Coast, is known for its golden sands. The Victorian wooden pier is a great place to walk, fish, and watch the world go by. The Swanage Railway ends in town, and nostalgic steam engine trips take tourists on a 6-mile journey through lovely countryside to Corfe Castle.
