Deer Leap House is a characterful property set in stunning grounds, frequently visited by deer, with ample space for large groups and a variety of on-site activities including a tennis court and games room. The house's charm and the beautiful outdoor setting are consistently praised, and it is well-situated for local attractions and amenities.
Several reviews mention cleanliness issues such as cobwebs, dirty windows, and dusty areas. Some guests noted that certain aspects of the house appeared unclean upon arrival, which suggests room for improvement in this area.
The property's location is highly praised for its beautiful grounds and wildlife, with deer sightings being a highlight. It is also conveniently located for local attractions and amenities, contributing to a positive experience.
Guests find the house spacious and generally comfortable, with large bedrooms and cosy living areas. However, some reviews mention uncomfortable beds and sofas, indicating that while comfort is generally good, there is variability in the quality of furnishings.

However, several reviews cite issues with maintenance, such as problems with heating, electrical sockets, and kitchen appliances, suggesting that while the facilities are appreciated, they could be better maintained.
Guests have mentioned thoughtful touches such as Christmas decorations, a dog bed, and a welcome with tea and biscuits. While these gestures are appreciated, it is important to note that such personal touches are subject to change and may not be guaranteed for every stay.

Moreton is a quiet village located 8 miles east of Dorchester, the County town, and is well-known for its connection to T.E.Lawrence, the famous soldier, author, and pioneering archaeologist better known as Lawrence of Arabia. He bought a house in the town now owned by the National Trust and is now named Cloud's Hill. He met and fell in love with Louisa Frampton while he was a resident here, and you can read some of their correspondence at the Moreton Tea Rooms. Only 8 miles away in the county town of Dorchester can you visit Thomas Hardy's former home and cottage, as well as many other shops, restaurants, and services. The Bovington Tank Museum is only a short distance away (about 6 miles), and is well worth the trip if you're interested in military history.

The floors were dirty, cob webs & dead bugs everywhere. Musty smell when you walk in. Pictures were very generous and clearly old as there was different furniture. Small points aside, major issues were the bugs/fleas/flies (not exactly sure what they were) all over the walls and ceiling in one of the bedroom rooms. This made the room unusable and we had to put some people in the front room. The main bathroom (only new, decent looking one) leaked into the down stairs ceiling (we assume a faulty/cracked pipe underneath). The leek was into the hallway down stairs directly through a light. Very dangerous. Old water stains so had clearly happened before. Rang both contact numbers provided, no answer. Contacted Skye's who acted like they cared at the time but then said they couldn't get hold of the owner and it's not their problem.. we paid for 7 beds and 3 bathrooms and could not use 1 of each. No resoonse, apology or compensation. Property should be taken off until fixed as this is very danagerous! We had children in the property!! Will never book again

Some of the windows do not open especially the kitchen windows. The Aga oven is small and it took a long time for the Aga to get to cooking heat, if you are used to agas you will probably find it easier the second electric cooker which is very old blew the electrics every time we tried to use it, an electrician was promised but didnât appear! So cooking was difficult. The sofa in the lounge is very low and not very comfortable. The beds are ok but I would suggest taking your own toppers. No fire exits sign posted. But I love the house it is unique.

It needs some attention. Some of the beds are uncomfortable and require a new matress. Some areas of the house need a more thorough deep clean. There was an infestion of flies in the twin bedroom. Some curtains are not properly hung. Some of the dining room furniture was almost broken. One of the upstairs showers floods. The electric oven seemed to cause the power to go off at the trip switch so may need some attention. The outdoor furniture needs to be properly stored, it makes the exterior of the property look untidy. The comments are not intended to be critical, but informative, in order that you can bring this property up to it's full potential and for it to be even more enjoyable for future guests. We had a lovely holiday and would go back again. The house suited our needs well. The games room was great, the lounge area very comfortable and the grounds were beautiful.
