Eweleaze cottage, nestled in a tranquil Dorset location near Dorchester, offers a peaceful retreat with easy beach access, ideal for dog owners. Guests appreciate the comfortable beds and the property's quietness, though some noted the need for maintenance and modernisation.
The property was described as 'just about clean enough', indicating a level of cleanliness that meets the minimum expectations but does not excel. Furniture and cutlery were noted as 'grubby' and 'well past their best'.
The location is highly praised for its loveliness, peacefulness, and proximity to the beach, making it perfect for dog owners and those seeking a quiet getaway.
The beds were consistently described as comfortable, contributing positively to the overall comfort of the stay. However, concerns about the rickety furniture and the challenging steps from the double bedroom slightly detract from the comfort score.
Guests expressed concerns over the property's maintenance, citing outdated electrical points, reliance on extension leads, and the need for £1 coins for the meter. The overgrown garden and untidy entrance were also mentioned, indicating a need for improvement in facilities and maintenance.
There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the hosts, therefore this category cannot be scored.
Nestled in the quiet, seaside village of West Bexington, lies this charming, single-storey holiday home, Eweleaze. With tasteful, rustic interiors, a well-appointed, open-plan living space, and exquisite views of the not-so-distant Jurassic Coast, this delightful abode welcomes a family of four the chance to fully unwind and take a break from the stresses of modern life by enjoying a relaxing, fuss-free stay on the Dorset coastline. Park up and unpack, then settle into your new lodgings by getting to work in the kitchen area where the chosen chef will find everything they'll need to whip up a delicious, home-cooked meal. Gather around the dining table to savour your meals as your catch up on the day's events with your loved ones, before lighting the woodburning stove and taking a seat on the sofa to enjoy your favourite television shows on the TV. In the warmer months, be sure to take a glass of your favourite tipple or soft drink out into the garden, where you and the family can raise a toast to your holiday, all whilst soaking in the beautiful woodland and sea vistas that encompass your new dwelling. When sleep calls, refresh with a rejuvenating shower or bath before retiring to one of two inviting bedrooms, both of which await to whisk you off to a night of well-earner slumber. When you're ready, take time to explore your surroundings by paying a visit to The Club House restaurant, which lies just a stone's throw from the property, serving up tasty food with an excellent setting. A short stroll will also bring you to the magnificent landscape of the West Bexington Nature Reserve, where rolling hills and the expansive Chesil Beach showcase the natural beauty the Dorset coast has in spades. A short drive away will bring you to locations such as Weymouth to the east, home to SEA LIFE Centre Weymouth and the lush sands of Bowleaze Cove, whilst brief car journey in the opposite direction will take you to the market town of Bridport, where visitors can spend time at the Bridport Museum and the hiking spot of West Bay Promenade. Bring the family for a refreshing escape to Eweleaze.
The small community of West Bexington is located close to the ocean and Chesil Beach, halfway between Burton Bradstock and Abbotsbury. Pebbled beaches are a magnificent location of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Special Scientific Interest. Chesil Beach, a 14-mile stretch of the Jurassic Coast from Burton Bradstock to the Portland peninsula, is officially recognised as a World Heritage Site. Because a wide variety of fish may be caught year-round and the South West Coastal Way runs beside the shore, fishermen and hikers are well-served. Only experienced swimmers should try swimming here, however Weymouth, which has wonderful, gently shelving sands, is close by. The community is conveniently located near a variety of sights and activities. With Dorchester, Bridport, and Lyme Regis all within easy driving distance, no trip to this region would be complete without stopping in at lovely Abbotsbury, 3 miles away, with its Swannery, Tithe Barn, and Sub Tropical Gardens.

Finding eweleaze was not easy due to an error in the instructions the oversized number is 31 not 33. The accommodation is ok but the large number of extension leads for electrical appliances was concerning. Had we used the wood burner there was no guard around it making it dangerous if children are about. The area around the house is lovely and so quiet and the field down to the beach was perfect for our spaniel to run around in. All in all we enjoyed our holiday and revisited lots of places.

Very peaceful and quiet, something what we were looking for. Close to the beach, which was nearly empty all the time. It is not a luxury cottage, so not for everyone. Good for dogs, but the garden is not fenced. The only thing we didn't find in the cottage was a dustpan. Beds very comfortable, I wish I knew what brand of mattress was in the bedroom. Yes - we would come back and yes - we would recommend

The clubhouse for a meal is lovely and also dog friendly, the fish and chips gorgeous, the only down side I found was the steps down from the double bedroom, if you are a bit unsteady on your feet they could present a challenge. A beautiful area and the accomodation suited our needs, loved the fig framing the entrance to the garage. Apart from the drive down from where I live I would certainly come again. So peaceful and quiet. Thankyou
