The wood-fired hot tub ensures a good night’s sleep after star gazing the dark skies above. Take the five wooden steps up into the hand-built shepherd hut and find a cosy open plan space furnished with vintage and repurposed furniture and fittings, the whistling kettle sits on the single gas hob, as the solar powered fridge chills your drinks. Being off-grid with no electricity or no Wi-Fi shouldn’t mean you’re worried about being a bit too far off the beaten track, do not fret, a solar-powered socket will be provided for USB charging and the pub and local farm shop are only one and a half miles away. It looks very idyllic and you can use the whole garden to sit there. Even when it rains, you can sit in a greenhouse and drink your wine. The hospitable owner received us very kindly and can tell us a lot about walks in the beautiful surroundings. The living quarters are real camping and a bit spartan. ;-) The electricity is generated by two solar panels, but if the sun is not shining, you may have to take a cold shower. So use electricity sparingly! The bed sleeps fine. And the hot tub is fantastic. We used it a number of times, although it takes two and a half hours before the water is up to temperature! :-) In short, the stay is a bit primitive, but if you like that, you have an original and unique stay in The Keets of Middle Acre!

The hut was well equipped and there were some lovely touches such as marshmallows and cookies on arrival. The hot tub was perfect once we worked out how to not over heat it! The outside space is lovely and relaxed with the sounds of the ducks providing a quite nice background noise. Roger was so accommodating and only too happy to help us which was appreciated.
