The beautiful Lopwell Dam and nature reserve can be found on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park, the location is idyllic - a haven for wildlife. Surrounded by Dartmoor, the South Hams and the South Devon coast, Plymouth offers both heritage and beauty. Wander the narrow streets with their shops, restaurants and art galleries and down to the Barbican quayside. Visit the Hoe with its view across the harbour and where Francis Drake played bowls as the Armada sailed into view. Tour the Plymouth Gin distillery, watch a show at the Theatre Royal or go to the National Marine Aquarium. There are boat trips around the Sound and Naval dockyards, watersports at the Mountbatten Centre and the city centre shopping. The tors of Dartmoor, beach resorts of Torbay, stately homes and gardens and coastal scenery of South Cornwall can be reached in under 45 minutes.
