Tidal Reach is generally praised for its cleanliness, welcoming touches, and convenient location. Guests appreciate the spaciousness, private parking, and the homely feel of the property. Some concerns were raised about bed comfort and the need for better communication and facilities maintenance.
The property consistently receives high marks for cleanliness, with multiple reviews noting it as 'lovely and clean'. No negative comments about cleanliness were found.
The location is described as excellent and convenient for local amenities and attractions. However, there is a mention of unexpected scaffolding which impacted the experience slightly.
Comfort receives mixed reviews. While some guests found the property comfy, issues with bed firmness and a slippery bedroom floor were noted, suggesting room for improvement.
Facilities are generally good, with private parking and unexpected amenities like an iron and hairdryer. However, guests mentioned problems with the cooker hob and a lack of information, which indicates some maintenance and information gaps.
Guests were delighted by thoughtful touches such as welcome packs and Easter eggs for children. However, as these gifts may vary and are not guaranteed, they should be considered a pleasant bonus rather than an expectation.
Tidal Reach is a ground-floor apartment, situated in the heart of the seaside town of Paignton, Devon. Within easy reach of a beach and local amenities, this makes an excellent family base for holidays in South Devon. As you step through the door of your new home-from-home, you will be welcomed into an inviting atmosphere. The kitchen is equipped with all the necessary amenities for a self-catering break, and a dining table to enjoy group meals together. Head through to the sitting room, where you can kick back on the sofa and enjoy a movie night on the TV, or curl up in front of the electric flame effect fire and lose yourself in a good book. As the night draws in, freshen up in the shower room before retiring to the bedrooms; there is a double and a twin on offer. In the morning, enjoy a cup of coffee from the rear garden, complete with a furniture set that is great for alfresco dining too. Tidal Reach is conveniently situated for enjoying all that Paignton and the surrounding area have to offer; take a relaxing stroll along the Esplanade and red-sanded shores, or simply admire the view from the pier. For a family day out, visit Paignton Zoo and Environmental Park and meet 2,000 animals or in the summer months, head to Splashdown Quaywest, the largest outdoor waterpark in the UK. For more entertainment, Torquay is nearby, with its lively harbourside and picturesque beaches, or Brixham, with its rocky coves, harbour, and seafood restaurants. If you’re looking for a dose of culture, further afield lies the historic port town of Totnes, where you can explore the castle, take to the towpaths along the River Dart, visit museums and galleries, or browse independent shops. All this and more awaits with a break at Tidal Reach.
Situated in the centre of Torbay between Brixham and Torquay, Paignton is one of South Devon's premier seaside resorts. Boasting long sandy beaches and a picturesque harbour, this bustling town also plays host to a wonderful selection of shops, pubs, clubs and restaurants. Arrival and Parking: Upon arrival, we were greeted by scaffolding at the front of the property. This not only limited the parking space but also made it impossible for me to exit my car using the driverâs door due to the shared driveway with another holiday flat. As a result, I had to park off-road, which was quite inconvenient. It would have been greatly appreciated if we had been notified about the scaffolding in advance. Accommodation Issues: The bedroom floor was quite slippery, making it uncomfortable to walk barefoot or even with socks on. Additionally, the bed was extremely firm, causing both my wife and me to suffer from backaches throughout our stay. This was a major downside as it affected our overall comfort and rest. Dining and Kitchen Facilities: Although the flat was advertised as suitable for four people, there were only three dining chairs available. Thankfully, there were only two of us, but this would have been problematic for a larger group. The kitchen, while well-stocked (over-stocked) with utensils (including eight saucepans, three slicers, two whisks, and three strainers), lacked essential storage space for fresh food and tins. As a self-catering flat, it was surprising to find no storage cupboards or even a breadbin, which made meal preparation and storage quite challenging. Information and Amenities: There was a noticeable lack of information regarding local services such as emergency doctors and dentists, etc. which would have been helpful. Additionally, there were no instructions on how to use the oven. As we are accustomed to a gas cooker at home, we struggled to figure out how to operate the electric oven provided. Guest Interaction: Normally, guests are greeted either upon arrival or within a couple of days to ensure everything is satisfactory. This was not the case during our stay. The only time we met the owner was on the Friday evening of our stay, when he knocked on the door to inform us that the cleaner would be coming in the next day. He did not introduce himself or inquire about our holiday experience. This lack of friendliness and engagement was disappointing. I would suggest the owner take some lessons from the Hotel Inspector on how to be more welcoming and attentive to guests. In summary, while Tidal Reach has potential, several aspects need improvement to enhance the overall guest experience. Better communication, more comfortable bedding, adequate dining seating, proper kitchen storage, and comprehensive information about local services and amenities would make a significant difference.

Had everything we needed and a great amount of space, with a perfect location. The only downsides were 2 things: seeing the scaffolding when we arrived & seeing straight through to the other apartments kitchen. We surprised seeing the scaffolding and perhaps we would have expected to be given notice it was there. It didn't affect us overall, I just had to remember to duck. One of the reasons we booked here was the garden but perhaps we didn't appreciate the layout with the other holiday property. It was how their kitchen looked directly to the garden quite noticeable after sunset. Garden was lovely though. We also booked this property as it stated no pets as at a previous holiday property there was waste left in the garden. We hope this remains the case as it was great space.
