Kings Cottage - North in Wiltshire is highly praised for its cleanliness, comfort, and idyllic location. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, comfortable furnishings, and the log burner, which adds to the cottage's cosy atmosphere. The beautiful garden and local walks are frequently mentioned, as is the proximity to a friendly local pub and well-stocked shop. While some guests suggest minor improvements, the overall sentiment is one of satisfaction and a desire to return.
Guests consistently note the cottage as 'reassuringly clean', 'spotlessly clean', and 'immaculately renovated', indicating a very high standard of cleanliness throughout their stays.
The cottage's location is celebrated for its tranquillity, picturesque village setting, and accessibility to local amenities and countryside walks. Its proximity to Salisbury and other attractions adds to its appeal.
Reviewers frequently mention the comfortable bed and sofa, the warmth provided by the log burner, and the cosy feel of the cottage, suggesting a high level of comfort for guests.
The property is described as well-equipped and thoughtfully furnished. However, some guests mention the lack of a microwave and issues with the dishwasher and TV, which slightly impacts the score.
Guests express gratitude for the welcome pack and complimentary logs for the burner, reflecting the owner's thoughtfulness. It should be noted that such gifts, while appreciated, may not be guaranteed for every stay.
Situated in the grounds of the historic, Grade II listed King’s Old Rectory, North Cottage (one of two superb holiday cottages at this location) offers guests the opportunity to stay somewhere quite exceptional. Situated deep in the heart of South Wiltshire’s magnificent Chalke Valley, where the sparkling River Ebble flows towards the cathedral city of Salisbury.
Recently, the property has undergone a painstaking and no-expense-spared refurbishment, where the owners have ensured the period features are mixed with modern touches, to create a truly beautiful holiday home. We love the understated taste and style that are evident throughout the interiors. While the open plan kitchen dining arrangement is really airy and spacious, the bedroom upstairs is big and airy with one king size bed with ensuite shower room.
Outside there is a large rustic garden with plenty of shrubbery and sitting area suitable for the summer time when wanting to eat outside or just simply relax. In Broad Chalke, the beautiful village in which Kings Cottage North sits, there are plenty of walking, bridleways and cycling routes right on your doorstep. The village has an 18th century traditional pub and a local village store, and is home to the grade I listed Parish Church of All Saints, which dates back to the 13th and 14th century.
Kings Cottage is a great retreat for those looking to rest and relax within this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Broad Chalke is a village nestled under the download of Cranborne Chase, between Shaftesbury and Salisbury. Cranbourne Chase is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with the countryside can justly claim to be some of the finest in southern England. Walkers, riders and cyclists are particularly well served by the multitude of footpaths, bridleways and cycle routes which run along the valley while a walk up to the old Ox Drove on the chalk ridge above will be richly rewarded by the sweeping views.

The cottage is delightful, very well modernised keeping lots of original features. The log burning fire was a highlight during the evenings. It was so wonderful to hear Owls at night! The cottage is in a good location for visiting Salisbury, and Old Sarum which are well worth a visit. We also travelled to The New Forrest. We would love to return for a stay in the spring or summer. Highly recommended.

Modern conversion, tastefully completed, quiet location. Not a huge property but definitely good for 2 (+ dog). Easy parking. The village is nice as well and close to lots of walks, other villages, pubs etc.

The only problem we had was we couldnât get the television to work and so we messaged the owner. She replied read the manual which we had done. It didnât impact on our stay as we only wanted it for the news but would have expected a different response from her.
