2 Hillside Cottages in Ipswich, Suffolk, is a well-received holiday rental with guests praising its cleanliness, comfortable furnishings, and well-equipped facilities. The enclosed garden is appreciated by dog owners, and the rural location offers lovely views and proximity to local attractions. The hosts are commended for their helpfulness and thoughtful touches, such as providing fresh eggs and other welcome gifts.
The majority of guests have highlighted the cottage's cleanliness, describing it as 'spotless' and 'very clean'. There is, however, a single mention of dust and a dirty oven, which slightly impacts the overall high rating.
Guests are pleased with the cottage's location, noting its rural charm, quiet surroundings, and convenience for exploring Suffolk. The proximity to Felixstowe and Ipswich is frequently mentioned, although one review cited a cockerel's early morning calls, which may affect light sleepers.
Comfort is consistently praised, with guests finding the beds comfortable and the cottage cosy, especially with the log burner. However, there are comments about steep stairs and one negative remark about the sofas, which suggests room for improvement.
The facilities, including the well-equipped kitchen, secure garden, and entertainment options like Sky TV and Netflix, are generally appreciated. However, there are a few reports of maintenance issues such as a dirty oven and steep stairs, which suggest that while facilities are good, there is some need for attention.
While many guests mention the thoughtful gestures of the hosts, such as leaving fresh eggs, milk, and biscuits, these gifts are not consistently referenced across all reviews. Therefore, while the hosts are often seen as thoughtful, it cannot be guaranteed that such gifts will always be provided.

The house was warm and clean and very comfortable. The owners Matt and Amber are lovely. The view to the front field is intersting, foxes last year but saw deer this year. Nice to see the hens, ducks, geese and the turkey out the back. The eggs are lovely and they also sell fresh vegetables and plants in the summer. Taken a few jars of honey home. There are lots of walks around Kirton. A lovely place to stay.
