Caithness House is highly praised for its prime location in Southwold, offering easy access to both the beach and town. Guests appreciate the spacious and well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and the property's cleanliness. The apartment is particularly noted for its accessibility and thoughtful touches like a welcome cake. Some minor issues with maintenance and comfort in the bedroom areas are mentioned, but overall, guests have had enjoyable stays and many are repeat visitors.
Guests consistently report that the property is very clean and tidy upon arrival, with no negative comments about cleanliness, indicating high standards are maintained.
The location is repeatedly described as excellent, with its proximity to the beach and town centre being a highlight for many guests.
The property is generally found to be comfortable, with cosy living areas and comfortable beds. However, some guests find the sofas and shower room less accommodating, especially for those with mobility issues.
The well-equipped kitchen and good Wi-Fi are appreciated, but there are some reports of maintenance issues like a problematic shower and leaky toilet. The lack of signed-in streaming services and scaffolding obstructing outside seating are also noted.
Guests mention lovely touches such as a welcome cake and fresh milk, which contribute to a thoughtful and welcoming atmosphere. However, as gifts are not guaranteed for every stay, this is a considerate gesture rather than a standard offering.
Open plan living with a twist... modern furnishings paired with beautiful original features, Caithness House also enjoys wonderful views of Southwold Lighthouse. Just a short walk from the beach. Dog friendly.
What a gem! This charming Victorian town house is situated on the sought after St James Green in Southwold offering warm and cosy ground floor accommodation for 6 guests. Not only does the property have charm and character but it also has location on its side - just a short walk to the sea and equally close to the town’s attractions.
Inside, the property is charming and well configured - the open plan living room is cosy with a couple of dark blue sofas and an open fireplace, a lovely relaxing spot to kick of your shoes and curl up in front of the fire. Just off is the dining area with a traditional farmhouse table, chairs and armchair. The country style dresser and model boat add to the appeal and a reminder of the coastal location. The kitchen has a functional and stylish range cooker and breakfast island - perfect for sitting with a magazine and a coffee over breakfast. The bedrooms are fabulous - beautifully furnished and decorated in hues of grey and white with pretty curtains, blinds and bedding.
Southwold has some great shops, cafes, delis, pubs and restaurants so you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to dining. Alternatively visit one of the independent grocers, bakers and butchers and cook up a treat. A visit to Southwold wouldn’t be complete without heading off to the pier, dating back to the 1900’s, it was originally built as a landing point for the steamships which use to stop off at the town. Don’t forget to visit the lighthouse - this distinctive landmark at the centre of the town has been guiding vessels into the historical harbour since the late 1800’s.
