About this property
Mallard is a well-presented, single-storey lodge situated on the Pearl Lake Country Park, in Shobdon, Herefordshire. Offering easy links to the Welsh border, this inviting lodge is a wonderful base for family and friends looking to escape to this charming region. Step into the open-plan living space and make yourself at home; relax on the sofa, flick on the electric fire and tune into the TV as you think about the adventures to come, or cross over to the kitchen and whip up something delicious, assisted by a range of appliances. Dine alfresco style upon the decking, complimented by a glass of wine, before escaping to the shower room for a freshen up. When you're ready to call it a day, head to either the double or twin bedroom, both neutrally presented and featuring a set of drawers for storing your personal belongings. The pleasant village of Shobdon lies between the historic market towns of Leominster and Presteigne, and is surrounded by beautiful Herefordshire countryside, close to the Welsh borderlands. Mentioned in the Domesday Book, Shobdon has a village shop, an excellent pub/restaurant, and even a private airfield, providing a rare opportunity to learn how to fly helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft. Leominster, dating back to the 7th century possesses some fine examples of architecture including the Priory Church, along with a wide selection of shops, cafes, antiques centres and pubs - an ideal place to spend an afternoon. Close by are many National Trust properties including Croft Castle and Berrington Hall, plus the Judge's Lodgings in Presteigne, Stokesay Castle, the renowned Shropshire Discovery Centre and the Acton Scott Historic Farm. Sample Herefordshire's cider or discover Hereford with its fascinating Mappa Mundi world map and the captivating chained library, home to a collection of rare and ancient books. The pretty medieval market town of Ludlow is also close by and makes a great day out, with more than 500 listed buildings and a magnificent castle.
