The famed Brontë sisters, who lived in the little village of Haworth, were inspired to write their works of English literature, which have since become classics, by the surrounding moorland. Haworth is a community that time almost forgot, with a plethora of curiosity and antique shops, alleyways, and cobblestone streets providing a lovely period ambiance, all set against a framing backdrop of famously characterised as wild, rough, and bleak in the novel Wuthering Heights landscape. The famed Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, an actual steam railroad made famous by the movie The Railway Children, is close by and offers a charming day trip with a regular service to the historic village of Oxenhope.
