In a sought-after area of Bridlington overlooking the Bayle Museum, Old Walls was originally the gatehouse to the Bridlington Priory, and lies in the heart of Bridlington’s old town. It makes a spacious holiday home, and is perfect for a traditional family seaside break. Its lovely seating area to the rear of the property is completely enclosed, making it a great space for children to play in. Grade II listed, this end-terraced house displays lots of original features, and is full of character. It overlooks the church green in a quiet corner of this residential area. The high street of the old town is just across the road, and is famous for the ‘Dad’s Army’ film being filmed there. It is also home to some very good restaurants and independent shops.
Bridlington is still a very busy working harbour where you can see the fishermen come in with their daily catch. The beach is wide and sandy with small areas of rock pools where children can enjoy foraging and catching crabs and other sea creatures. Bridlington Spa is a great entertainment venue hosting international acts throughout the year, and great pantomimes can be seen here.
Along the coast is Danesdyke Nature Reserve with some beautiful woodland walks. Further along the coast at Bempton Cliffs is the rspb bird sanctuary, where you can view thousands of birds perched on the cliffs from viewing platforms. At certain times of the year puffins can also be spotted. The seaside resorts of Scarborough, Filey and Flamborough Head are just a short drive away, and other places to visit are some wonderful stately homes including Sledmere House, Burton Agnes Hall and the wonderful Sewerby Hall, which are all worth a visit during your stay. Beach 1½ miles. Shop 300 yards, pub 150 yards and restaurant 400 yards.
