Guests say

Horace Mills is a highly praised apartment in Cononley, with guests loving its stunning views, cleanliness, and proximity to the train station for easy travel. The local village charm and friendly atmosphere add to the appeal. While parking can be tight, the overall experience is deemed brilliant, with many looking forward to returning.

Reviewers consistently mention the apartment's spotless condition and excellent cleanliness, indicating a very high standard maintained throughout the property.

The location is frequently highlighted as perfect, with the train station just a stone's throw away and easy access to Skipton and the Yorkshire Dales. The only minor drawback mentioned is the tight parking.

Guests find the apartment comfortable, well-equipped, and beautifully presented. A suggestion for lighter duvets and a preference for a larger bed indicate room for improvement in this otherwise highly regarded category.

The apartment boasts fantastic facilities, with some guests appreciating the unexpected extras like kitchen condiments and a hairdryer. However, concerns about parking and a desire for a television in the bedroom suggest some areas could be enhanced.

The owners' thoughtfulness is evident from the mentions of welcome gifts such as fresh flowers and a bottle of wine. While these gestures are greatly appreciated, it is noted that such gifts are subject to the owners' discretion and not guaranteed.

About this property

A beautiful, reverse-level duplex penthouse apartment on a newly converted mill estate in the village of Cononley in Airedale, is Horace Mills. This contemporary property is ideal for a couple or two couples wanting to enjoy a peaceful and pretty holiday in the south of the Yorkshire Dales, offering picturesque valley views. Enter the property on the first floor to two spacious double bedrooms, with contemporary style, soft grey carpets, ample storage space and access to a shared balcony. The first bedroom has a convenient en-suite shower room, while the second double has the option for the zip/link bed to be made up as two singles and is serviced by the family shower room, so there shouldn't be any queuing for the bathroom in the mornings. The newly-fitted, glossy white kitchen has all the appliances you'll need, including an integrated dishwasher, and meal can be enjoyed together at the dining table, before retreating to the lovely sofas and enjoying watching the huge Smart TV, or take advantage of the Bluetooth sound system to listen to music or the Netflix account to enjoy a film. Horace Mills is a short walk from the village's two renowned real ale pubs and the railway station, and for more amenities, the many delights of the traditional market town of Skipton (next stop on the train from Cononley) are not to be missed. The train provides excellent opportunities to travel the scenic Settle to Carlisle line or the nostalgic Keighley & Worth Valley Railway which embraces the steam era. Head to Leeds (30 minutes on the train) or Bradford for some of the UK's best restaurants, attractions, shops, culture and nightlife. The area around this holiday retreat is an outdoor paradise, with beautiful strolls in the village surrounds as well as more challenging walks and cycle rides into the nearby hills and up into the joy of the Yorkshire Dales providing a wealth of activities in the stunning countryside as well as access to wonderful towns and cities steeped in history and fascinating architecture. Be sure to stay at Horace Mills for a luxurious time away, with lots to do and see.

The attractive village of Cononley lies in Airedale, four miles south of Skipton. The village's 17th century heritage is still visible in some of the buildings, with an even greater number remaining from the villages heyday as a 19th century centre for hand loom weaving and lead mining. There are two pubs and a mainline railway station with links to Leeds, Skipton and the famous Settle to Carlisle Railway line. Nearby Skipton, known as "The Gateway to the Dales", has an ancient castle, a beautiful old parish church and a colourful market occupying the cobbled setts each side of the high street. Enjoy a canal trip on a traditional barge or visit Embsay Steam Railway or the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway.

Apartment is of a very high spec and spotlessly clean. Lots of kitchen equipment if needed (we didn’t eat in apart from breakfast and snacks) The only thing that could make the apartment better for us would have been a king size bed but we coped for 4 nights! Great to be able to use the train - our cars never moved! Shame there is no food at either pub at the mo but we got out for a drink and the village shop is very well stocked and very friendly!

Our third stay in Horace Mills and we’ve already booked to go back next year.

We had a fantastic time, the view from the lounge window was brilliant. The location of the railway was so convenient that we used it nearly every day, allowing hubby to have a drink whilst we were out. It also meant we didn’t have to negotiate the parking on too many occasions. It is a bit awkward, definitely have to reverse in. We would highly recommend staying at Horace Mills.
