This 18th century double-fronted stone cottage lies in the centre of the small village of Hardraw, one mile from Hawes. This delightful Hardraw cottage has been lovingly renovated and refurbished to a high standard, retaining much of its original character. The property is cleaned and maintained by the owners for every change-over. The spacious accommodation in this Hardraw cottage includes a fabulous farmhouse kitchen with feature Rayburn, a small breakfast area seating four, and views of the Dales and sheep and hens who occasionally like to jump the fence into thegarden to eat the grass - they provide much entertainment! The sitting room at this Hardraw cottage with its open fire offers a warm and cosy retreat and has double aspect windows overlooking the front garden. The separate dining room has a dresser, an open fire and a large bay window from where you can sit and watch village life unfold. Outside this Hardraw cottage is a lovely front garden with picnic bench, courtyard with patio table and two chairs and small rear garden. Wensleydale is one of the most beautiful of the Yorkshire Dales and there are fabulous walks from the doorstep, including past Hardraw Force, England's highest unbroken waterfall, and the Pennine Way, which passes through the paddock on limestone flags and down the side of the courtyard leading up to Simonstone Hall. This is a great location, from the castles at Bolton and Middleham, to nearby Hawes with its famous cheese factory and lovely market. A warm and very comfortable Hardraw cottage from which to explore Wensleydale, Swaledale and beyond.
The delightful market town of Hawes is the highest settlement in Wensleydale and home to the delicious Wensleydale cheese. The town is also famous for rope making; a skill passed down through the generations and a fascination for many of the visitors that come to the town. A regular market is held on a Tuesday and Hawes has many excellent shops and eateries in its midst. The beautiful limestone countryside surrounding the town provides a huge variety of walks and other outdoor pursuits, and for sightseeing opportunities the area is unsurpassed with the spectacular Hardraw Force and the Aysgarth falls just two of the natural wonders to be seen.
