Plucked directly from the front of a postcard, this quirky stone cottage is both beautiful and comfortable - everything that families would need for an unforgettable Yorkshire getaway. The historic holiday home is located on a quiet road in Gayle, a hamlet not too far from the beloved village of Hawes (1 mile), both of which are surrounded by awe-inspiring landscapes. Made for stays throughout both the winter and the summer, the pretty property hosts four guests alongside a warming wood burner and an inviting, furnished garden.
Enter this character cottage into a farmhouse kitchen with ornate tiling and a warming AGA oven. Whip up family meals in this well-equipped space and gather in the airy garden room’s dining space which is surrounded by greenery. To unwind after dinner, head to the sumptuous, country-style lounge with its soft seating and vaulted ceiling where you’ll find a Smart TV and crackling wood burner. Relish in the cosy feel of this room before venturing on up to bed, finding a king-size room and a twin bedroom upstairs, served by the well-appointed shower room. Outside, soak up the sun from the tiered, verdant garden where you’ll find outdoor furniture for alfresco breakfasts and dinners – a peaceful spot to start and end each day.
One of its most famous exports; Hawes is home to the Wensleydale Creamery (0.5 miles) where visitors can watch the production of Wensleydale cheese and stock up on dairy delights to take home or give as gifts. An array of walking routes can be found looping out of the village, including the Pennine Way (1.5 miles) which leads up to the Great Shunner Fell (3 miles). Also close by, cyclists can take on the challenge of summiting Buttertubs Pass (5.5 miles), a high road with spectacular views at its peak.

Great renovation of a really cosy cottage in a great location.

Fantastic cottage located just outside of Hawes village, quiet location but easy walking distance into the village. Probably one of the best cottages we have stayed at. The cottage was renovated to a high standard, keeping original features although adding modern touches to make it a comfy stay. Would highly recommend a stay here.

The property was really well presented, you could see the owners had put a lot of work into it. The bedrooms were lovely, beds really comfortable and the whole property immaculately clean. Kitchen was well equipped and we had everything we needed. Front room was a cosy family space and I imagine would be very inviting in winter with the log burner on. The whole area around Hawes was picturesque with plenty options for walking and great food, the street was quiet and it was only a short walk into the town so a good base for exploring the area. Only downside I would say is that the garden isn't a safe space for younger children and isn't really accessible unless you're fit and confident ascending and descending very large steps with no rails. Cottage itself is lovely and the garden is charming but it isn't useable on a practical level as an outside space for a family or older person.
