The kitchen is well-equipped, perfect for rustling up delicious dishes to be enjoyed together around the formal dining table, over a bottle of wine, enjoying the woodburning stove on winter evenings. Cosy up in the sitting room, with plush seating to sink into and a woodburning stove to light, whilst the outdoor space offers a lovely area to relax in the sunshine whilst planning your impending itinerary. Once you’re ready to venture out and explore the delights of Hawes, be spoilt for choice with a selection of shops, filled with local produce, pubs and eateries, perfect for visiting across your self-catered stay; for attractions, enjoy a tour of Wensleydale Creamery, head to the Dales Countryside Museum, or follow the hiking trail up to Hardraw Force Waterfall or Stag Fell. Take a drive along the Dales, firstly stopping off at Aysgarth Falls and Cauldron Falls for some beautiful scenes, before reaching the old mining town of Reeth, or the market town of Leyburn, where you can find a great selection of eateries, pubs, galleries, shops and more; follow the River Ure from Leyburn to Richmond, the perfect spot to take in stunning views of the nearby castle and abbey, and wander through the cobbled streets of the market square, filled with boutique shops, eateries and bars. Drive South West to the spectacular Ribblehead viaduct, Malham Cover, Grassington (the home of “All Creatures Great and Small”) and Ingleton. South East brings you down to Harrogate, Skipton and Brimham rocks – an almost alien landscape! For the more energetic or adventurous the three peaks are accessible from the viaduct. With such an array of attractions nearby, Ings House makes the perfect base.
Hawes is a popular market town in the Richmondshire district of North Yorkshire and is regarded as one of the honeypot tourist attractions of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Standing between Buttertubs and Fleet Moss, the town is an excellent centre for walking and touring Wensleydale and the adjoining dales of Swaledale, Cotterdale, Dentdale, Garsdale, Wharfedale and Chapel-le-Dale. Take a walk around the Hawes Town Trail, Millennium Walk, Pennine Way or along the River Ure, which is nearby. In 1998 Hawes was awarded the English Tourist Board Silver Award for the "Best Day Trip Out". Modern traffic has long replaced coaches and horse drawn wagons along its narrow streets, but market day (Tuesdays) in Hawes is as busy as ever, with a farmers’ auction attracting sheep farmers from all over the north of England. Traditional shops, cafés and inns now cater for a variety of Dales visitors as well as the local community. The award-winning Wensleydale Creamery, made famous by the animated Wallace and Grommit films, is now open to visitors so that they can see the famous cheese being made and sample the end product in a welcoming café. In the old station yard you will find the busy National Park Centre and Dales Countryside Museum. The Museum is home to the magnificent collection of Dales artefacts by the two great Dales historians and writers, Marie Hartley and Joan Ingilby.

The garden is the best weâve found in the dales for our dog; it is large & secure which meant she had the freedom to roam off lead. The only negative was the absence of a dishwasher, which was on the listing; just a note explaining the problem wouldâve been acceptable. Other than that, Ings is the best house weâve rented in Wensleydale; lots of thoughtful touches, such as the treats for us & very useful items for our dog.. Thank you.

Producers frequently are reluctant to accept this. Our expectations are based on many holiday rentals. Parsimonious provision of toilet rolls. We had to take paper from another roll and then wind it round the cardboard inner of another roll. The dishwasher was not working. This was not advised beforehand but on arrival the information was on laminated cards. In other words this must have been the situation for a considerable time so why were we not advised and why has a repair not been carried out? A tiny scouring spoge was provided. The instructions for kitchen waste were ambiguous - we never did work out what the 'white bag' was. The biggest issue is car parking. This is a 4 bed property so a need for 3 or 4 cars is indicated. It is informative that a previous owner hived off a piece of land, built an adjacent property and then moved into it and sold what is now Ings House. The gravel is front of his new house is supposed to be shared with Ings House. However he clearly thinks he still owns the land. There are two 'semidetached' garages attached to Ings House, but it transpires one is rented out to the old owner. This is not made clear. A sign states we could park 'in front of the garage'. Which garage? Which way? This neighbour parked in the middle of the gravel leaving a tiny sliver of space which we could just get our car into. Having done this, another neighbour asked us to move our car as the owner would be returning with a camper van. He duly did and then he parked his car sideways with a trailer attached so the supposed space for us to park was never available. I guess he was sending some sort of message. THIS NEEDS SORTING AND THE RIGHT TO PARK FOR VISITORS MADE ABSOLUTELY CLEAR !!!!! We picked this house for its spaciousness and proximity to the town. I could not in conscience advocate visitors with three cars should stay here.
