Stay in this purpose-built holiday lodge in the Howardian Hills. Comfortably furnished to a high standard and well-equipped for cooking, holiday bookings are available all year round. Victory Greenland is on the 15-acre Malton Grange Lodge Park with a leafy outlook, spacious living accommodation and a large deck with an outdoor hot tub. It's ideal for couples or families planning a self-catering holiday full of walking, cycling, sightseeing and eating. Castle Howard and Flamingo Land are less than 10 minutes away, and you're within easy reach of York, Whitby and the Yorkshire Heritage Coast.
Victory Greenland Lodge is a purpose-built holiday cottage in a tranquil setting close to the Yorkshire village of Malton in Ryedale. With space for four people to sleep in two bedrooms, it's ideal for couples or families who want immediate access to the countryside, making this region a favourite year-round holiday destination. You have 15 private acres of the Malton Grange Lodge Park on your doorstep and are less than a mile from the Howardian Hills. Guests love that the Queen's Head pub and Chinese restaurant is only a mile away for times you don't feel like cooking, although the kitchen is very well-equipped for self-catering.
Ryedale has a footpath for every walking style, whether you're a hill climber or more of a coastal rambler. There's also a wide variety of bridleways and mountain bike trails for off-road thrills, while road cyclists can push themselves on climbs and be rewarded by sweeping downhills along road routes like the Sustrans National Route 65. Castle Howard has a range of family-friendly trails with the bonus of ice cream at the end of your ride. If you need a bike, you can hire one through bike shops in Pickering, Sutton Bank and Dalby.
As lovely as the hills are - and they are sublime - you may want to mix your itinerary up with a day or two in York. You can walk along two miles of medieval stone walls dating back 700 years. These are called Bar Walls with "bar" meaning "gate" rather than a place for a cocktail. Another great day out is on the Yorkshire Steam Railway. Climb aboard in Pickering and alight in Whitby, enjoying sights and attractions relating to Dracula and Captain Cook. Other local attractions include Flamingo Land theme park, Eden Camp, and Castle Howard. There are four supermarkets within a few miles of the lodge. However, we recommend shopping at the regular markets in Helmsley, Kirkbymoorside, Pickering, Norton or Malton for fresh local produce and a unique holiday experience.
