A steam train trip is a must for both young and old, as it winds its way through the beautiful heather-clad moors to the small village of Grosmont. Pickering is known as the Gateway to the North York Moors, and has an excellent array of quaint tea rooms, pubs, restaurants and a twice-weekly market held in the cobbled main street. Enjoy a visit to the Beck Isle Museum, climb up to the castle, or try your hand at trout fishing, all within five minutes' walk. Walkers and cyclists are spoilt for choice, with an abundance of public footpaths and trails in the area, including the wonderful Dalby Forest Outdoor Pursuit Centre, just a few miles away. With easy access to the rugged East Coast and many nearby family attractions, including Flamingo Land and Ryedale Folk Museum, this warm and welcoming holiday home provides an excellent choice.
