A superb converted chapel in the peaceful village of Grosmont, huddled in the Esk Valley. Chapel-on-the-Hill provides a harmonious combination of original Wesleyan features, such as beautiful arched windows, with a contemporary, eco-friendly interior.

Families will fall in love with this luxury two bedroom accommodation and the stunning scenery of North Yorkshire’s finest countryside, with excellent long range views from the property.

An elegant arched entrance leads you to the hallway of this unique chapel. On the ground floor, there is an extremely welcoming, king-size bedroom with an immaculate en-suite shower room with shower, basin and WC. Pause a moment in the fantastic mullioned window seat, soak up the atmosphere and imagine the chapel in bygone times.

There is also a tranquil, smartly furnished twin bedroom on this floor with full size 3′ single beds and an en-suite bathroom with bath, shower over, basin and WC.

Head upstairs, via a central staircase and marvel at the breathtaking views of meadows, moorlands and woods from three magnificent arched windows. Enjoy the light as it pours into the wonderful open plan living space, creating an amazing ambience of restfulness. It feel like being in another world, cocooned by nature. A comfortable seating area is the perfect place to rest and admire the view, whatever the season.

The dining area pays homage to history with its original pews, lovingly restored to provide quirky seating. A fabulous, well-equipped kitchen with granite work surfaces also has a breakfast bar with stools.

With underfloor heating throughout, this glorious Chapel stays cosy even in the colder months.



Outside there is a pretty courtyard with seating area – listen out for the atmospheric whistle of the heritage locomotive as it passes through Grosmont. An idyllic experience not to be missed!

Stroll into Grosmont, where you will find several cafes and a cosy pub, including a tearoom at the 1952 themed heritage railway station. Hop on board the steam train for a romantic ride to the bustling market town of Pickering, gateway to the North York Moors. Or head to the coast on the Esk Valley line from Grosmont to picturesque Whitby. Immersed in nature, you will find plenty of fantastic local walking paths straight from your door. The circular route around the awesome ‘Hole or Horcum’, taking in the villages of Levisham and Lockton, is a must.

The pretty village of Grosmont sits at the junction of the River Esk and Murk Esk in the midst of striking North Yorkshire Moors scenery. The area is characterised by its narrow roads, steep hills and scenic views over valleys of patchwork fields and wide-open expanses of moorland. Grosmont itself lies in the ‘Heartbeat Country’ and is famous for being the home of the North York Moors Steam Railway. The Railway has been preserved and run by enthusiasts since 1973 and today carries upwards of 300,000 passengers a year. The village has a general store, post office, book shop, art gallery, cafes and a pub. It makes a great base for exploring the many pretty farming villages along the Esk Valley and the wider North York Moors National Park, as well as the North Yorkshire Coastline with characterful harbour towns and villages.

The access to the property from the car park is via 9 Steps onto the patio.

On entering the property there are 4 steps to the bedroom level and then a staircase of 14 steps to the living area.

We would consider this property inappropriate for most people with limited mobility.
