About this property

A delightful, modern, terraced cottage in a superb position in the ancient fishing port of Whitby. This charming 'upside down' Whitby cottage, warm and snug with quality furnishings, has an open plan living area with views towards the harbour and Whitby Abbey. This Whitby cottage offers very comfortable accommodation with a small, sunny front patio, and, rarely found in Whitby, private parking. Overlooking the railway, it is an absolute delight to watch the steam trains trundling by this Whitby cottage as they approach the station - appealing to both young and old! On the doorstep of this Whitby cottage are all the amenities of the town, including excellent pubs, restaurants, tea rooms and renowned fish and chips! Wander around the cobbled market square and harbour, explore the numerous quirky ginnels, or take a stroll on the long, sandy beaches. Discover the stunning North York Moors, explore the pretty inland villages such as Goathland (from TV's Heartbeat), or visit the nearby market towns of Malton and Pickering. A Whitby cottage providing a great base for all the family.

The fishing port of Whitby lies at the mouth of the River Esk and is ideally situated for exploring this part of Yorkshire with its superb coastline and the North York Moors. Whitby is a charming and atmospheric town of winding streets and hidden alleys, with a picturesque harbour, safe sandy beaches and of course the Abbey, reached by the famous 199 steps.

Note: 4 trains per day, plus steam trains, pass by the property, between 6.30am and 7.45pm.

In owner's experience the train audible warning signal for the crossing happens some 50-100 meters up or down the track, and any disturbance is limited to a slight rumble as it passes.
