Book House in Whitby offers a cosy and comfortable stay with superbly comfortable beds and a well-equipped apartment. Its central location is ideal for exploring the town, though parking can be challenging. Guests have appreciated the welcome tray with tea, coffee, and biscuits, adding a touch of thoughtfulness to the experience.
The property was reported to have a fusty smell and an issue with rubbish from a previous occupant, indicating a need for better cleaning and maintenance.
The property is centrally located on a main shopping street in Whitby, perfect for exploring the town, but some guests were inconvenienced by the noise and the distance to the parking zone.
The beds are described as extremely comfortable, and the provision of earplugs for the seagulls shows consideration for guest comfort. However, the presence of spiral stairs may pose a challenge for some.
While the property is well-equipped and decorated, with two toilets being a plus, there were issues with heating and lighting maintenance during a guest's stay. The lack of a footstool was noted by two guests, but overall facilities information is limited.
Guests were pleased with the welcome tray, which included tea, coffee, and biscuits. However, as gifts are not consistently mentioned, they should not be expected with every stay.

I had selected only properties with parking and was disappointed firtsly that when I emailed Sykes, no one got back to me and secondly that when I searched reviews I found out there was no parking with the property. In the end we had to sepnd £11 per day on parking. Secondly we had no heating until the eveing before we left. We reported it to 'Maid in Whitby' but she did not come until the Tuesday evening ( we left on Wednesday morning). By this time, the light in the main bathroom ( no windows) had also gone. Very disappointing, it was freezing!

Comfy and cosy. Lovely welcome tray with tea, coffee and biscuits. Beds are oh so comfortable. Only thing missing is a foot stool for the living room (and thatâs only my personal opinion) will definitely be coming back.

The previous occupant's rubbish was left in the hallway and no council refuse sack to dispose with. A search to find one behind the door in the hallway revealed a horribly mouldy, dilapidated external toilet. A good location to explore Whitby being situated on a main shopping street, but we could hear noise from the street through the single sheet windows and music from downstairs beneath the living room. The parking here is unfortunate being at times a distance to walk to Zone W depending on how lucky you are finding a space, this is of course more to deal with the influx of tourists than the property. Unfortunately, we will not be returning.
