Berry Banks Cottage is highly praised for its superb location with easy access to Whitby and scenic views. Guests find the property comfortable, well-equipped, and appreciate the open garden space. The cottage's cleanliness is generally good, though some inconsistencies are noted. Thoughtful touches like a welcome bottle of wine are well-received, enhancing the stay.
Most guests report the cottage as clean and comfortable. However, a few reviews mention issues with cleanliness in specific areas, such as kitchen grease, a stained bed sheet, and dust. These seem to be exceptions rather than the rule.
The location is consistently lauded for its tranquillity, proximity to Whitby, and beautiful countryside views. The Cinder Track offers a pleasant walk into town, contributing to the high rating.
Guests find the cottage to be very comfortable, with special mentions of cosy interiors and well-equipped spaces. The open plan garden is a hit with families, and the beds are noted as comfortable.
The cottage is well-equipped with kitchen appliances and offers a smart TV and WiFi. Some guests missed a DVD player and cleaning products, but overall, the facilities meet guests' needs.
Guests appreciate the thoughtful gestures such as a welcome bottle of wine and biscuits. While these gifts enhance the experience, it's important to note that such amenities may vary and are not guaranteed for every stay.
Whitby 1 mile. A delightful, end-terrace mews cottage, in a modern development just one mile from the popular historic seaside town of Whitby. Set in an elevated position above the River Esk, this Whitby cottage offers light and airy, well-equipped accommodation. The open plan living area of this Whitby cottage is tastefully furnished, with views overlooking the splendid viaduct and an archway leading to the spacious kitchen with a dining area to one end. Patio doors lead from here to a small, sunny decked area, a peaceful spot with fine views over open countryside and distant hills. Upstairs in this Whitby cottage, the bedrooms have been individually styled, with the double room boasting a balcony, ideal to sit with a glass of wine, enjoy the views and spot the steam trains trundling by! From this Whitby cottage, communal lawned grounds lead down to the riverside, which is a haven for wildlife, including seals, swans and ducks. Ideally located away from the hustle and bustle of Whitby, a short walk brings you to the centre of this atmospheric town, with its cobbled market place, narrow, quirky alleyways and fisherman's cottages. The long, sandy beaches are fabulous for children and there is an excellent array of tea rooms, pubs, independent shops and restaurants. A must is a climb up the 199 steps up to the famous Whitby Abbey and St. Mary's Church. The surrounding area around this Whitby cottage has a wealth of attractions to please everyone - whether it be a trip on the steam train, exploring the stunning heather clad moors, or visiting the many coastal and inland villages including Goathland (Aidensfield from Heartbeat). A superb Whitby cottage for an enjoyable holiday.
Situated at the mouth of the River Esk, Whitby is an ancient fishing port steeped in history. The ruin of St Hilda's Abbey is high on Whitby's East Cliff and looks down on narrow streets and alleyways. From the old town, the parish church of St Mary, also on East Cliff, has 199 steps leading to it and the churchyard was one of the inspirations for Bram Stoker's Dracula. Other attractions in Whitby include the Captain Cook Memorial Museum, Victorian Jet Works and The Dracula Experience. There are year-round events at Whitby Pavilion Complex and there is a blue flag beach and spectacular cliffs and bays to explore. Whitby is in a beautiful region and offers visitors a great deal of variety for a memorable holiday at any time of year.
