With glorious garden views towards the sea and Abbey, this delightful property is perfect for couples wanting to explore the spectacular scenery of the North York Moors and the dramatic heritage coastline. Imaginatively converted, The Hayshed provides rustic and quirky accommodation, with the use of reclaimed timber and exposed stone work. Full of charm and character, there is an open plan living area, with stripped wooden floors and a bespoke hand-crafted kitchen with retro appliances. In the comfortable sitting area, there is a cosy electric stove creating a warm and homely feel for a romantic night in. With superb attention to detail, the bespoke timber staircase leads up to the double bedroom and an en-suite shower room. Across the drive, guests have private use of an enclosed meadow garden; a lovely spot to sit with a glass of bubbly and watch the sun go down over the sea! A few minutes’ drive brings you to the ancient fishing village of Robin Hood's Bay, with its steep, winding cobbled streets lined with quaint cottages tumbling towards the sea. Explore the hidden coves, stroll along the beach, or take an invigorating cliff top walk along the long distance Coast to Coast trail. The popular seaside town of Whitby has long, sandy beaches, a beautiful historic harbour and its famous 199 steps leading up to the Abbey, perched high on the cliffs. Partake in afternoon tea in one of the cafes, sample the restaurants, including the very best of fish and chips, or enjoy a cocktail in one of the trendy bars. The cobbled market place and narrow ginnels are a joy to meander around, with lots of independent shops and a wealth of local inns. We found everything we needed for a comfortable stay and our dog was at home straight away. There was a little traffic noise at night, but we still slept well in the comfortable bed. A great location for visiting North Yorkshire and I would recommend both the Hare and Hounds and the Windmill for delicious food.

Ideal for a quiet relaxing break. The host was knowledgeable with advice of the local amenities.

Carrie was chatty and helpful and so apologetic about the cracked patio door. The hay shed has everything you need and is comfortable. The location has lovely views of Whitby abbey but is on a busy main road which can be noisy. There are lots of places to visit in the area so it makes a good base for seeing the various castles, abbeys and houses. We enjoyed our holiday here and would recommend it to other people.
