Set on a serene private complex called The Pines at Runswick Bay, Rockpool Retreat presents a luxury holiday lodge to relax in amidst the North York Moors coast. Just a stone's throw from the delightful beach of Runswick Bay, you can enjoy both coast and countryside in the company of your loved ones in this three-bedroom abode. Step across the lovely enclosed decking and make your way into the open-plan living space, decorated in neutral hues and quality furnishings creating a fabulous space to wind down in when you're not out exploring. Choose a film to watch on the state-of-the-art Smart TV while the electric stove-effect fire adds a homely aura to the scene, sink into the plush sofas after a day of walks on the moors, while the sun fades through the full-length glass doors. Enjoy cooking within the amply-equipped kitchen fitted with a fabulous range of quality appliances; simmer a homemade sauce on the gas hob, store your fresh ingredients in the integrated fridge/freezer and delight in making your self-catering holiday a breeze with the dishwasher. Mealtimes can be enjoyed around the dining table, if you've been branching off for different activities throughout the day it's a chance to regroup and plan for the coming days. Take an aperitif out onto the enclosed decking to soak in the last of the afternoon sun, while your four-legged friend sits by your side. The pretty seaside village of Runswick Bay has narrow passages and quaint streets to wander, take a photo of the only remaining thatched house on the Yorkshire coast which was once an old coastguard's house, before finding some excellent food served within The Runswick Bay Hotel, or if you're wanting a beach-side snack pop into the Runswick Bay Café down by the beach. Enjoy discovering the area from the water with Barefoot Kayak, who are based in the village, offering guided kayak tours, sure to be an unforgettable holiday experience! Take in the coastal views and the beautiful moors by walking along the Cleveland Way Walk stretching 109-miles, but you don't have to walk it all! Within the heart of the North York Moors National Park is The North Yorkshire Moors Railway, now a well-travelled walking and cycling route of 18-miles providing an easy way to see this lovely expanse via a designated path. Don't miss a chance to visit the historic coastal town of Whitby, famously the inspiration of Bram Stoker's 'Dracula' it offers many attractions, from the eerie Whitby Abbey commanding extraordinary views over the town and sea, reached via the challenging 199-Steps as well as the glorious Blue Flag beaches where you can sit and delight in some classic fish and chips. A world of adventure awaits on the coast of North Yorkshire at Rockpool Retreat.
The historic fishing village of Runswick Bay is without doubt one of the true gems of the Yorkshire Coast, if not the whole of the UK. This picturesque SE-facing village situated 9 miles from Whitby sits in a beautiful sheltered sandy-beached bay backed by spectacular cliffs and moorland scenery. Relatively un-commercialised and with vehicular traffic restricted, the village provides the perfect setting in which to relax and unwind. Relish in taking long walks on either the sandy beach or along the Cleveland Way on the clifftop above. There is much to do in the local area, whether it's visiting Whitby with its famous Abbey, Staithes with its pretty shops, cafes and superb art gallery, or touring the dramatic North York Moors. The lower village houses a local inn serving food along with a spectacularly situated cafe, whilst nearby Hinderwell provides 2 inns, a fish and chip shop, a local butchers and a garage/petrol station. A Co-op is situated at Staithes 2 miles away.
