About this property

Helmsley 7.5 miles. Mole End is a lovely annexe located close to Wass near the bustling town of Helmsley, North Yorkshire. With its location in the North York Moors National Park, proximity to several surrounding villages and towns and set within 45 acres of woodland and pasture in a secluded dale, particularly appealing to any who love nature, quiet and dark skies, this is a perfect base for a couple seeking a quiet retreat. Step into the single-storey haven to discover a beautifully presented open-plan living space warmed up by a woodburning stove. Cuddle up in an armchair to watch your favourite shows and movies or move to the kitchen to cook mouthwatering meals together to tuck into around the dining table or out in the garden if you prefer to dine alfresco. Outside, the non-enclosed rear garden offers a peaceful retreat with a lawn, patio, and furniture, perfect for enjoying the fresh North Yorkshire air. Come back inside and unwind with a hot shower before slipping into a plush bed to catch some rest. A memorable stay awaits at Mole End. Note: This property can be booked with Ref. 1150998 together sleeping up to seven guests.

Lying in a sheltered corner of Upper Ryedale, on the southern edge of the North York Moors National Park, Helmsley is a prestigious market town with a spacious market square surrounded by houses, hotels and shops. The area is important historically - Helmsley has its own 12th century castle and English Heritage’s Rievaulx Abbey and Castle Howard are close by. Helmsley also boasts an arts centre showing films and plays, and an outdoor swimming pool, which is open during the summer. There is excellent walking on the doorstep - indeed the Cleveland Way starts in Helmsley - and the surrounding North York Moors with their hidden dales and villages are pretty in all seasons. York is less than an hour's drive south, as is Scarborough, Whitby and the east coast, whilst Pickering and the beginning of the famous steam railway line (North Yorkshire Moors Railway) are a little over 20 minutes' drive.

So comfortable, well equipped and tastefully furnished. Met on arrival by Judith with keys and a welcome package much appreciated after a long journey, thank you.

We would recommend mole end to anyone who loves country living. A high spot was watching the deer across the valley. We are certainly visiting again, probably in the spring. Trevor and Trish.

We loved the wild deer and the household pets. Plenty to see and do close by and the location gave us very easy access to the superb Ryedale Festival activities that we attended. We were well cared for by the exceptionally helpful and genial host. Definitely a place to go back to.
