The property is situated within the city walls and looks out onto the medieval city walls which lead you on a circular walk, an ideal way to explore this beautiful area. The location provides a quiet retreat yet a 2 minute walk onto Micklegate to the bars and restaurants.

The little front private garden with a seating area on the patio is ideal for people watching, as visitors wander along the city wall above. The garden is a great suntrap and very private with exterior lighting and a sheltered area for those scorching summer days. Inside no expense has been spared in providing an indulgent welcome. Each room is gracefully furnished, with your comfort in mind. The kitchen is the heart of the home, and what a kitchen this is, with sweeping granite worktops, and copper topped dining table. The living room with two Chesterfield sofas encased in warm soft leather, is the perfect way to spend an evening after a busy day of exploring. The bathroom is sure to wow with its fabulous slipper bath, inviting you to wind down in an evening beneath a thick layer of bubbles as you self-indulge.

In keeping with the history, the property has been beautifully renovated to combine the traditional with the contemporary. Set right in the heart of York’s medieval city, The Cosy Duke enjoys a superb central location. This is a vibrant city boasts many attractions, guests will be spoilt for choice. Those who love history will be in their element, with many historical buildings to explore. Take a tour around The Treasurer’s House, a National Trust property, or The Merchant Adventurer’s Hall, where you can unravel the stories of the past or wander amongst the picturesque gardens.

Those with families may wish to go on an educational tour of the National Railway Museum, or the Jorvik Centre where you can learn some important Viking battle tactics! Meander along the cobbled winding streets through to the Shambles, or stroll along the high street, both of which are ideal for shopaholics. For a day to remember why not have a flutter at the races, this is a great excuse to dress to impress, with ladies donning eclectic headwear and towering heels. If you wish to venture further afield, the North York Moors and the east coast are easily accessible. Enjoy a day at the beach in Scarborough, Bridlington or Filey, and don’t forget to sample some delicious fish and chips prior to returning to the city before dusk falls to enjoy one of the spooky ghost walks.
