The location is frequently highlighted for its breathtaking views and tranquility. It's considered a perfect retreat for nature lovers, although the access road is noted to be a bit rough.
The pod is described as comfortable, cosy, and well-equipped, providing a snug retreat even in adverse weather. One mention of a stiff fold-away bed slightly affects the score.
Facilities such as a fire pit, smart TV, and Wi-Fi are appreciated by guests. However, the variable Wi-Fi strength and a suggestion for outdoor storage for muddy boots indicate room for minor improvements.
The hosts' thoughtfulness is evident through mentions of a warm welcome, homemade bread, and other provisions. While these gestures are greatly appreciated, they are not guaranteed for every stay.
Boasting dramatic views of the Atlantic ocean and the rise and fall of the mountains behind, Balvicar Beag is a fantastic hideaway located in Balvicar, Isle of Seil, ideal for a couple looking to explore the wilder side of Scotland. Accessible via the scenic Clachan Bridge, discover this delightful lodge settled into a working farm, surrounded by breath-taking scenery. The contemporary design of the pod encourages you to make yourself at home in a well-fitted open-plan living area with a good selection of amenities and contemporary décor, so enjoy a romantic meal for two at the dining area with a view over the scenery, before snuggling up with your significant other in the sitting area to enjoy a movie night. As the evening wears on, freshen up in the shower room before catching your rest in the pull-down double bed. Make the most of the fresh morning air at the tastefully outfitted seating area or enjoy a glass of your favourite beverage in the elevated sitting area as the sun sets over the local scenery. The Isle of Seil is a remote island connected to the mainland of Scotland via the Clachan Bridge, a historic spot where you can enjoy a walk through the scenery. The property rests in the village of Balvicar, near the Atlantic ocean and a golf club where you can try out a game or two. Stock up on essentials at the Balvicar Stores or enjoy a meal out and a drink at the Oyster Bar. Balvicar, and the surrounding areas of the Isle of Seil, are immersed in wilderness and ideal for cycling, walking and birdwatching, with an abundance of wildlife and breath-taking scenery at your fingertips. Explore the islands and coastlines with boat tours from Sealife Adventures and Seafari, or take a ferry to the neighbouring island of Easdale, home to the World Stone Skimming Championships, where there us a pub, The Puffer Bar and Restaurant, and the intriguing Easdale Island Folk Museum. Enjoy a break from the bustle of everyday life with a stay at the tranquil Balvicar Beag.
The village of Balvicar is found on Seil, the most northerly of the Slate Islands, attached to the Scottish mainland by the Clachan Bridge, built in 1793 and now famously known as the 'Bridge over the Atlantic' as it spans the narrow strip of ocean. This is a very peaceful and tranquil area, with an abundance of wildlife and spectacular scenery which is wonderful for walking, birdwatching, cycling, boating and fishing. Balvicar's village shop and post office boast a wide range of groceries, newspapers, fishing tackle for sale and golf clubs for use at the adjacent Golf Club. The two other inhabited slate islands, Easdale and Luing, are reached by a small passenger ferry and a car ferry respectively. Not to be missed are the high adrenaline boat trips by Sea-fari and the more sedate trips by Sealife Adventures, which offer a wide range of marine eco-tours that include visits to the Gulf of Corryvreckan, home of the world's third largest whirlpool, whale and dolphin watching as well as the chance to spot basking sharks and a wealth of seabirds.
