Guests say

Branter Lodge receives high praise for its cleanliness, comfort, and stunning location. Guests appreciate the well-equipped facilities and the thoughtful inclusion of supplies and games. While there are minor maintenance issues and seating limitations, the overall experience is highly recommended for its beautiful setting and well-appointed accommodation.

The majority of guests found the property to be very clean and comfortable. However, one review mentioned a dirty fridge top and hair in the shower, suggesting room for improvement.

While guests have mentioned great views and a lovely area, there are no specific comments on the convenience or accessibility of the location, hence a score cannot be provided.

Guests consistently describe the property as comfortable, with ample space and numerous bathrooms. The only discomfort noted was insufficient seating for a larger group in the main lounge.

Facilities are generally well-received, with special mention of the outdoor storage for bikes and the supply of games and books. However, points are deducted for the broken shower riser and the non-functional arga.

The property is commended for its thoughtfulness, providing a range of supplies that exceed the basic necessities. While this is highly appreciated by guests, it is noted that such provisions are a bonus and not guaranteed.

The small village of Strachur sits on the east shore of Loch Fyne on the west side of the Cowal Peninsula in Argyll. From the Gaelic meaning Glen of the Heron, Strachur is just over 60 miles from Glasgow. The original village centre is located about half a mile inland from the loch shore and today it offers the Smiddy Museum and Clachan Inn. On the shore of the loch is a shop, Post Office and tea room and just north is the famous Creggans Inn, previously owned by the renowned adventurer Sir Fitzroy MacLean. The charming town of Inverary is on the opposite sides of the loch and is reached by a pleasant and picturesque drive, passing by the well-known Loch Fyne Oyster Bar. The Town Jail is worth a visit, as is the striking castle which you pass on entering the town. Surrounded by magnificent lochs, forests and mountains, Strachur is located in one of the most spectacular parts of Scotland.

The top of the fridge was filthy and there was black hair in the upstairs on suite shower tray, and a duster would not go a miss in the front living room.

    We thoroughly enjoyed our stay

We loved the views, the space, the comfortable rooms and numerous bathrooms! When the weather wasn't so good we were happy to relax at the house and it was great to have a supply of board and games and books. When the weather improved there were lots of lovely places to explore, especially Benmore Botanic Gardens, Puck's Glen and Kilbride Beach. We thought midges might be a problem but they weren't.
