Dermot Cottage in Castle Douglas is highly praised for its comfort, spaciousness, and well-equipped nature, making it a favourite for many repeat visitors. The property boasts a lovely garden and is situated in an excellent location for exploring the area. Guests appreciate the thoughtful touches, including welcome gifts, although these are not guaranteed for every stay.
Most guests found the cottage to be clean and well-maintained, with only a few isolated reports of cleanliness issues such as dog hairs and dust. These seem to be exceptions rather than the rule.
The location is consistently described as excellent, with the cottage being centrally placed for local amenities, walks, and exploring the wider area of Dumfries and Galloway.
Numerous reviews highlight the comfort of the beds and the homely feel of the cottage. The spaciousness and the quality of the furnishings contribute to a very comfortable stay.
Facilities are generally well-regarded, with a well-equipped kitchen and good amenities. However, there are some comments on maintenance issues and suggestions for improvements, which slightly lower the score.
While many reviews mention thoughtful touches such as dog treats and Prosecco, there is not enough information to determine if these are consistent offerings or one-off gestures. Therefore, a score cannot be accurately provided.

Noise of road could be mentioned. Bathroom handbasin drainage needs attention together with hand shower and as owners know we had difficulty with the cooker but this was quickly sorted.

Would recommend it.

The cottage was generally clean in the areas used daily, although underneath some of the furniture and above where the ceilings meet the walls had cobwebs and dust, we didn't look any further. Maybe being picky, but all the kitchen knives were blunt, and it was a bit disappointing to see that there were no spare bin liners, not much toilet roll etc. Nicola
