Roughhills Cottage sits in a stunning location with outstanding views over Sandyhills Bay and across the Solway Firth to the Lake District and Isle of Man. It retains many original features which add to its charm. Stroll to the beach via the unmade sloping path (which is directly across from the cottage), or just sit and relax watching the most amazing sunsets over the beach. Although this detached cottage is in a superb rural location, there is a pub and restaurant within half a mile. The surrounding area has an abundance of walks ranging from scenic coastal walks to forest trails. With sailing, swimming, riding, fishing, golf, boat trips and water sports close by, there is sure to be something for everyone. Warmed by the Gulf Stream, the area has many beautiful gardens to visit, including Threave Gardens (NT) at Castle Douglas and the world renowned Logan Botanic Gardens further afield. The Galloway Forest Park, home to the first Dark Sky Park in the UK, is nearby, and being central to five of the 7Stanes, this is a popular location for cyclists and mountain bikers. Take a short drive along the coast to Kippford, a charming sailing village which has two pubs on the waterfront.
