Southerness is a small coastal village established in the late 18th century, which looks out over the Solway Firth, and forms part of the Colvend coast, one of the finest stretches of coastline on the 'Scottish Riviera'. Home to three pubs, two village stores, and two miles of sandy beaches with sand dunes, rock pools and Gulf Stream warmed waters, and one of the oldest lighthouses in Scotland, built in 1748, it has everything you will need for a relaxing holiday. The nearby Criffel Hill rises to 569m, offers wonderful views of the farmland and the sands of the Nith Estuary below, and provides great walking opportunities. The Southerness Championship Golf Course adjoins the village and offers panoramic views of the Solway Firth, the Cumbrian Lake District to the south and the Galloway Hills to the west. A great location, with something to keep everybody occupied.

The facilities on-site were not great and the absurd £18 each to be able to use the bar area was a complete joke. However the accommodation was excellent.

Good size and clean. Not quite ‘on the beach’ but very close. Good location. Enjoyed it.

  • Helen

Spacious well laid out. Comfortable and very clean. Everything provided that you would need. Lovely views over the sea . On a parkdean site, swimming pool and entertainment that you need to pay for passes .but worth doing with bad weather . Lots of beautiful forests and thing’s to do in surrounding area. most within 1/2 hr drive . Only one thing we would have liked is more information on arrival from the owner. We followed instructions from Sykes both on things to do ,and how to leave the lodge which was much appreciated
