Guests say

Quare Place is a spacious and well-equipped cottage in Dumfries, praised for its comfort, large garden, and sea views. Guests appreciate the property's suitability for large groups and those with limited mobility, with special mention of the cosy upper lounge and well-provisioned kitchen. While some minor maintenance issues and hot water limitations were noted, the overall experience is of a peaceful and enjoyable stay, with the beach and local amenities within easy reach.

The property generally appears clean and well-presented, though some guests mentioned cobwebs and a less thorough clean due to a last-minute booking. These seem to be exceptions rather than the rule.

The location is highly praised for its proximity to the beach and local restaurants, offering sea views and a quiet environment despite nearby holiday parks. It serves as an ideal base for exploring the area.

Guests find the property comfortable, with large beds and sofas, and a cosy atmosphere. The presence of en-suite bedrooms and a spacious layout contribute to the overall comfort.

The facilities are generally well-received, with a well-equipped kitchen and ample space. However, points were deducted for reported issues with TV reception, hot water supply, and some maintenance concerns.

While guests have mentioned positive contact with the owner and the provision of towels, there is no mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches that would warrant a score in this category.

Whatever you do during your next stay in Scotland, do it from the base of Quare Place.

Southerness is a small coastal village established in the late 18th century, which looks out over the Solway Firth, and forms part of the Colvend coast, one of the finest stretches of coastline on the 'Scottish Riviera'. Home to three pubs, two village stores, a leisure centre with a pool at Parkdean and two miles of sandy beaches with sand dunes, rock pools and Gulf Stream warmed waters, and one of the oldest lighthouses in Scotland, built in 1748, it has everything you will need for a relaxing holiday. The nearby Criffel Hill rises to 569m, offers wonderful views of the farmland and the sands of the Nith Estuary below, and provides great walking opportunities. The Southerness Championship Golf Course adjoins the village and offers panoramic views of the Solway Firth, the Cumbrian Lake District to the south and the Galloway Hills to the west. A great location, with something to keep everybody occupied.

The best equipt, warm under floor heating, comfortable spacious bedrooms three of which were ensure, good information about house and surrounding area, visit from owners to check we had everything we needed. In a quiet area but with everything we needed within a couple of minutes, very friendly locals, local pub well worth a visit, This property was a bit more than we usually pay but we'll worth the extra and great value for money.

Large secure outside play area for all. This house was well presented with everything you need for a holiday break. The bedrooms are large and the on suites first class. The only issue we had was door locks on bedrooms which are pin controlled, but the problem was easily sorted by a phonecall. Highly recommended.
