The cottage is on the edge of the Galloway Dark Sky park so is assured of plenty of star gazing opportunities from the door step.  Not only that but you will find wild life on the door step including soaring Red Kite, Deer, Red Squirrels and the farm chickens! The Forest Park offers superb wildlife and out door activities with many walking and mountain bike routes. The fabulous Solway coast is nearby with stunning beaches contrasting with rugged cliffs and smugglers coves, all making for wonderful days out exploring.

Water sports are well catered for throughout the area and Loch Ken is close by with The Galloway Activity Centre, Crossmichael Marina and Waterski School.

Scottish culture and history can also be enjoyed at many sites including Threave Castle which is set on an Island in the River Dee and more contemporary Arts at Broughton house, Kirkcudbright which celebrates the Glasgow Boys” school of artists.
