The cosy cottage provides comfortable holiday accommodation for four and you don't need to stir from the doorstep to enjoy the area as there is a large picture window with views of the Galloway hills, on clear nights you can enjoy the stars, if very lucky the Milky Way as well.

The Dumfries and Galloway is a leading area in Scotland for all things outdoors, a greast range of the area's abundant wildlife can often be seen from the cottage. There is ample parking and an enclosed garden. The A75 is two miles away giving easy to all the areas attractions, including Wigtownshires outstanding beaches, golf courses and the Galloway Forest Park, Britain's first designated Dark Skies Park. The local section of the 7Stanes mountain bike network is very close by at Kirroughtree and other sections are within easy reach. Shops, restaurants, pubs and cinema are all 3 miles away in the local market town of Newton Stewart.

Hawthorn Cottage is a lovely old-fashioned place which has everything you need. It's lovely and quiet with great views of the Galloway Hills by day and the Milky Way by night (if it's clear of course). Very conveniently located for cycling tours, hill walking and exploring the coast and other tourist attractions. And we were welcomed with a lovely home-made Victoria Sponge. So all in all I can thoroughly recommend.

We really enjoyed staying at Hawthorn Cottage, located on farm land but very quiet and private. The location is great, nice and quiet. The nearest town is Newton Stewart which has a small Sainsbury's, Lidl and Co-op as well as local cafes, butcher's and a bakery. Lots of things to do locally such as kayaking, biking, walking, zip wire etc. Not far from lovely bay villages. You are also close to the Galloway Forest Park which is a must visit for loch and forest walks as well as stargazing at night (very clear sky).
