Guests say

Cairnhapple House is highly praised for its spaciousness, well-equipped kitchen, and beautiful surroundings teeming with wildlife. Guests have enjoyed the peacefulness, the extensive grounds, and the property's cleanliness. The house's comfort and the owner's hospitality are frequently commended, although there was a mention of some maintenance and cleaning issues.

Most guests found the house spotless and very clean, contributing to a comfortable stay. However, one review mentioned several cleaning issues, which suggests room for improvement in this area.

While guests have mentioned the presence of wildlife and the peacefulness of the area, there are not enough specific comments about the location itself to accurately assess this category.

The property is consistently described as comfortable, spacious, and warm, with several reviews highlighting the comfortable beds and the cosy atmosphere, ensuring a relaxing experience.

The house is celebrated for its well-resourced kitchen and the array of equipment available. The garden and woodland offer additional recreational space. Despite the high praise, a few maintenance issues were noted, slightly lowering the score.

Guests appreciated the extra touches, such as the Christmas tree and the provision of bird food. These gestures contributed to the overall positive experience, although it's important to note that such personal touches may vary and are not guaranteed.

Further afield you can visit the nearby market town of Newton Stewart, where you can wander the streets and take in the wonderful views of the River Cree. Stranraer, which became a Burgh of Barony in 1596 and a Royal Burgh in 1617, lies on the shores of Loch Ryan on the northern side of the isthmus joining the Rhins of Galloway to the mainland. There are many shops and cafes to while away an hour or two and the Stranraer Town Trail explains some of the fascinating history. For walkers, the Southern Upland Way touches Stranraer on its way through the Galloway Hills, having begun in Portpatrick, 7 miles to the west. Three nearby gardens are open to the public and well worth a visit at Castle Kennedy, Glenwhan and Logan. Stranraer has several beaches, however it is worth travelling to Sandhead and New England Bay for wonderful sandy beaches. A short drive south and you come to the Mull of Galloway, Scotland’s southernmost point. The lighthouse on the headland looks over some of the last remaining sections of natural coastal habitat on the Galloway coast and an rspb nature reserve has been set up to retain this spectacular and diverse area.

Well equipped, clean, comfortable beds in fact we cannot fault it. The owner Graham was very friendly and helpful. If we ever go back to the area we would have no hesitation staying again.

The property is enormous, impeccably clean, well equipped, stunning views from the first floor, vast gardens surrounding the property even including woodland! Our family very much enjoyed our stay and we will definately recommend this place to all our friends and family. The value for money is also worth commenting on! We used this as a base to travel to Ayr (~1 hour drive), we used the swimming pool with the kids in the main town too (~10 min drive) and went to the splended Logan botanic gardens. It was so nice we asked to stay an extra night and didn't want to leave :)
