Kirkcolm, formerly known as Stewarton, which was established in the early 17th century, is a small village on the tip of the Rhinns of Galloway Peninsula. The village offers an award-winning pub and a shop, along with an excellent childrens playground. Nearby are lovely walks to the coast with superb birdwatching. The village is just six miles from Stranraer which is situated at the head of Loch Ryan and has a long history as a ferry port.
